Just came across these GN type heads on Ebay (# 290153892059) Mostly out of curiousity (but you never know :laugh would these fit my 1975 231 block?
http://www.gnttype.org/forums/ You might have better luck posting question there. They are better for V6 information. ElectraJim
Thanks Sean, I was wondering. Now I know for sure. ElectraJim, I know this was V6 related, just as a few other topics that I started on here, but I thought it couldn't hurt to put it in the small block section of the forum. There's nowhere else to go with it. And since there is A LOT of Buick knowledge on here I ask something here every once in a while. Already helped me a lot, every time! But I will look into that other forum. Although there are some people on here that know their stuff about the V6 Buick engines too!
My advice for trying to hot rod a v6 would be to find a even fire motor so you can use the parts from the GN's and other FI v6's. I have a freind who races the Buick v6 odd fires in small cars so I can ask himif you need more help with your v6 and I'm stumped. What was the first year for the even fire? I can't remember...
I'm not really planning on hot rodding my V6. But I'm defenetly going to try to get some more out of it. By a 2 to 4 barrel conversion for example. Just came across those GN heads the other day. Stuff like that makes you wonder  The even fires came in 1977. They changed the crank.
Alright forgive me, but I gotta ask. Just came across a set of 225 Jeep headers on Ebay. Would this fit my engine? (# 120155073522) The 225 and 231 are pretty much the same engine right? I don't know if the exhaust ports match. But judging the gaskets that are on one of the pics I have to say they look a lot like mine (the shape of the ports). But maybe someone on here knows for sure about this.
http://www.gnttype.org/general/v6hist.html 1977 Odd fire design in early model year Even fire design produced late in model year Cylinder heads revised with new exhaust ports and cast rocker stands In 1977, Buick redesigned the firing order to make it a smoother running engine by revising the crank throws. This was a mid-year change, so some odd-fire and some even-fire V6s were made during 1977. The new even-fire engine still retained the same bore spacing as the odd-fire version, so the bores were no longer centered over the rods and the engine had to be under balanced and soft motor mounts were used. The balancing took care of the vertical component of the vibrations and the motor mounts took care of the horizontal component. i think they might fit but wont fit the 225 due to water passage change that would need to be reversed you can find out more in smokey yuniks book on hodrodding the v6 i think he did alot of this stuff and it would answer lots of questions on your v6
Yeah that book would be very helpful! I found this later on: http://www.earlycj5.com/tech/engines/225/225-231InterchangeGuide.php I found someone that has the correct exhaust flanges for my engine. So I might go from there. But he is willing to check some stuff out and ask around for me what is and what is not possible. And wich headers should work or not. So that is great. I'm getting somewhere.
