The engine in question is basically a 455 stock rebuild and depending how much I decide to have the block decked and which gaskets I use it I'm shooting for around 8.6-8.7. Pocket ported stock non-stage 1 valves, 1 7/8" headers, Performer intake, 2 1/2" exhaust with Dynomax, TH350 and 2,200 stall, 12 bolt with currently 4.10 gears but plan to change to a 3.55. I already have the cam and would rather not have to buy a different one, but on the other hand it's not much fun changing a cam later if it turns out to be a bad choice. The car is mostly used on the street but I do take it to the track several times a year.
That cam is a bit bigger than mine..my engine is close to yours with a bit more c.r. I suppose a 2500 stall and having that cam installed advanced it would work o.k. Later,Tony.
I agree use it. I had a Lunati SP4 cam in my car with ported heads, hedders, dominator carb, th400 4000 stall, trans brake, SP1 intake. Well the SP4 rounded off a lobe and I had this cam sitting in a street engine. The car went 1196 first time out with this cam. I would use it in a heartbeat
I have to admit, looking at the spread between intake and exhaust I have been a little apprehensive about using it but now I feel a whole lot better about it. Thanks for all your opinions, I really appreciate it :TU: We're going on vacation in 2 1/2 weeks and have too much to do between now and then to mess with my car. Hopefully that will change when we get back. I am really hoping for a street friendly motor that will run at least somewhere in the 12's.
