IMO, its true retail value is its good parts - $2k for removal fees=$5-6K?? $27K retail complete - $6k purchase price as is = $21k repair and profit fund. OK, take away the profit factor = Need to really love it.
Street Machinery in Ohio is owned by a guy named Boris. He sells all sorts of cars and toys. Cool dude, knowledgeable and a good builder. I've met him a few times he loves bubble tops especially Buick ones and all things cool. My friend has bought a few cars from him and also has work done by him. He's a legit guy. He moves a bunch of cars and parts. He usually leaves a little wiggle room. He knows the market very well.
Before it was wrecked this car belonged to a long time member of the Carolina Chapter (David Link) I remember the car well because I wanted to buy it in 2008 from another member here on the board (Ray Morris) David restored the car to driver condition and enjoyed it before he passed away. It sold and the next owner was in a crash with it. The car is a good parts car but at this point and time it would seem to me its a stretch to get anything close to the money they want for this thing.
