Was wondering if anyone had a correctly replated 1970 hood latch they are not using?

I remember some buying spares when offered a few years ago.

    Thanks for any help.

    Thanks,

    Fritzling

I would do a run of them if I could find some quality cores.

Maybe we need to see if we can get some folks to get in a line to commit & send them in?

Be happy to make a post & see if there is enough interest. How many you figure it would take?

I need to check on current cost to make a run with my plater. I usually run 15-20 at a time. They are time consuming. Solvent wash , then steam clean then bead blast cabinet , oil bath then to plater. If someone has a few of them it might work out

I have a couple uncracked good cores I'd be interested in having done.

I got one that’s painted primer but just noticed it’s got a crack. Is it worth getting replated? Not sure if they can be fixed or if it’s still can be used. @STAGE III I was gonna say you could have it if it’s useable.

    3shields Let's go, MOUNTAINEERS!!!

There was someone on Facebook GS site offering them up a few weeks ago, along with rear hood support bolts, replated. I'll look again and see if I can find his post.

I have one in wonderful shape, but it was painted black. However, you can still see some plating. Here are a few pics.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

He was on V8buick long ago but hasn’t posted in many years. He’s a good friend of mine and a standup dude. He takes it a step farther when he replates these latches. He has a vapor hone machine which doesn’t leave an incorrect texture like a part that has been bead blasted. A part that is bead blasted before plating looks different due to the texture it creates unless a person takes the time to polish the bare metal before plating.

He also removes the spring before plating the latch, most people miss this step.

I'm interested in having 2-3 plated if someone is going to have a batch done. I may have a spare core, also.

    Thanks

Can someone post a picture of where these are prone to cracking and how to identify the 70 from the 71-72 units? I have 5-6 and wont be using them, but don't know what year they are for.
