I am looking for a set of as close to unmolested stock heads I can find. No gasket matching , no port work, Nothing but bone stock originals. I will be doing my own thing so understand they have to be as close to original as possible. Castings#1231786
1970 casting numbers were all the same far as I know you want bare heads or complete with valves springs and retainers ? They are in colorado
That number denotes a casting 67-69 head not a Stage 1 head... 70 Stage 1 numbers are: 1240150 BPG INFO.... JIM
I didn't think stage 1 heads had their own casting number.......I thought they just pulled a batch down and did the modifications needed to convert them to bigger valve and so on
So, if that were true, then there is absolutely no way of identifying when the small valve heads were converted to Stage 1 heads, at the factory or years later at the machine shop. I have a set of 1240149s that are rumored to have been Charlie Evans. They are Stage 1 heads, but I'm thinking he converted them, not the factory....JIM PS: I was not aware that BPGs Casting number page was inaccurate or I would not have posted it....
I think that is one of biggest problems in getting stage 1 heads.....or originals.......no way to truly tell
One set I have came off a totaled out stage 1 car and are the same number as my other 3 sets and have had them on shelf since early 80s none have ever been to a machine shop for valve work or milled only 2 sets have had valves done and are on cars now
