Hi, I'm new here! Please forgive me for not reading any of the, 'how to ...' directions for this forum. I'm on a computer all day as well as continually learning new software, I don't want to read any more, ' help files' right now.
Anyways, My car won't start I know it's eletrical...
Are there any Buick Masters here willing to respond ?

    Thankyou in advance,

    Welcome to the board.

We'll need more information, such as year of the car, etc. For example, if its an older car, there is no computer to be concerned with.

    Ahem, Truzi

I'm pretty sure its a 91 Buick, as she stated in her title. :Brow: 1st thing popped into my head was the HEI mod. or coil, but I don't even know if HEI is on that yr car.

    Thankyou for replyiing,
I have a 1991 Buick, Roadmaster fully loaded w/ crap... I mean power windows, power seats, even the mirrors are adjusted electronicaly- YUCK! (I think it's old enough to not require being hooked up to a computer for diagnostics and to be told it is repaired or whatever those things do. I changed my alternator last spring, no problem once it was done...)

I'm not sure what HEI is and your are correct about the coil (maybe) I just changed it becasue it was not getting any electricity..

So here is where it is at now. The coil is getting 12 volts (tested it) but, I'm not geting any sparks from the distributor. So do you think I need to replace the control module. I worked on my Volkswagon bus (stop laughing!) and it was pretty easy to just narrow down the possibilities...
But cars that actually go up hill get more complicated.
I feel more hesitant about just going for it now, anyways thanks for repling and sharing your knowledge.

Opps, sorry. I read the post but ignored the title (I open all the threads that interest me in tabs, then start reading)

duh, I guess an HEI mod would be the control module that I was talking about. I'm just getting the hang of this forum; I didn't even look at the messages I was trying to respond to after I started typing. I had just remembered thinking, "what HEI, huh?" Now that I read it again, I am thinking, "Well, that's real embaressing. Maybe I ought to stay away from the toolbox, if it's close to Bui."

I'm glad you thought it was my mod or coil, I'm going to try and replace it this afternoon/evening. Do you still think that is what the problem may be. Previous to breaking down Bui was missing and it was idling louder than usuale, there was no way to miss the missing. My RPMs were also sporadic, (lose power, get it back- slightly. Not enough to effect the MPH, my gas milage was effected though.)

so Broke college student, are you browsing in mozilla? Mozilla Firefox is the only browser I know of with tabs. I love it, I've never used another browser since.

Yep, I've been using Firefox since version 0.5. Opera (not free) uses tabs as well as some others - especially in Linux, which I use as my main OS.

I hope you get your car fixed soon - its going to get really cold. I won't be of much more use on it as I'm not good on the "newer" cars. As a matter of fact, I'm not very good on the older stuff either - thats why I'm here.

Thanks for the luck, I need it.

I do have a question that you might know,
Do you think a car's timing could be so off that the car would not start.

    timing

Indeed the timing can be just a little off for the engine not to start.

ThankYou Thankyou ThankYou! I was being presured into accepting that the timing would not effect the car starting; and to call the guy I paid to fix the Buick last time it needed to be repaired. I'm almost positive that once the timing is corrected Bui will start. Wait a minute, How the heck am I going to check the timing if the car won't start? Ughhh!
I think my car is sitting on the side of the rode now because the last time the Buck needed to be repaired the mechanic didn't check the timing when he was done. I take that back, he didn't check it as soon as the car was running. I am so thankful enjoy working on my own car. I'm almost 30 and I have gone to a mechanic a total of 4 times and twice my vehicle was not at all happy in the end. I wish I lived in AZ so I could take my car into my ol'reliable mechanic. He did a good job, didn't charge more than he said he would, (unless I o'kd it) and he answered my questions.
oops please excuse my little tantrum..

I REALLY APREACIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO RESPOND, BEETLEBUICK!!!
