Where are the temp internet files stored in XP? Several parents want to view where their kids surf to, and that is the only way I know of to show them. I tried Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp internet files, but I get a memory read/write error when I try to open that folder. Anyone? ____________ EDIT _____________________ Disregard! I can search for files that appear in that folder, but I just can't view it directly with EXPLORE. Anyone else have that problem?
Yardley, there's another way-just check for cookies and you'll find the cookies that have been gathered while visiting whatever site has been visited. You can clear these by deleting cookies and putting them in the recycle bin. Once they are in the recycle bin,you can delete them entirely.I know that there is a program that industry uses to gather what sites people visit. It's called "Spyware". You can get this program either at any computer store to download from the internet. Hope this helps.
Thanks Carl. Yeah I knoew that too, but some sites don't place cookies on your HDD, and the temp files really gives a person a nice overview of where the users have surfed. Thanks
simple to be honest with ya... open up internet explorer... or whatever they use.. View/Explorer Bar/History or click the clock with the arrow going backwards on the toolbar... this goes to the history ... unless they remove the history from the browser it should be there, every site they visit.. if they're deleting them... you can be sure they're getting into things they shouldn't...
Right click on Start Click on Explore Look for and open folder called "Local Settings" Temporary Internet Files folder is in in there. You can also simply look at History. It will show recent sites visited by all. Click on icon at top where Search, Favourites etc. are. On my system it's beside "Media". to the right. HTH
You can also click on "Tools" then "Internet Options" and a window will open to allow you to set the number of days you want History to keep.
