Anyone, have an idea where, I can get a "Y" pipe for the exaust for my Roadmaster (1955 76-R 322 cid)? (I also posted in parts wanted)
Try Waldrons online, they had an exhaust system for my 46; they might have a single system for yours...
Thanks for the quick reply Marc. I just found their site. And, I came back here to ask; If, anyone had used them. Thanks again! You gotta love; V8BUICK!
Walden's has listed a complete set up; "y" pipe to muffler to tail pipe for $370. It seems a fair price. But, all I need is the "y" pipe. I've sent an email inquiring; if, I could buy the "y' a la carte........ I'll follow up with a phone call tomorrow.
The system I bought from them for my 46 fit like it was supposed to, even was able to use the original hangers, no bending, no cutting, it bolted up like it was made at Buick.
I'm leaning toward buying the whole system. And using the new "y" pipe; now. And, keeping the rest for later. $370 is a not a bad price.
That's pretty good, 56 years, huh? And, my "Y" pipe is the Original!! On mine; very thing behind the "Y" has been replaced twice. And, the right manifold has been replaced once (that was a hard one to find!). I'm expecting it to arrive this week. I'll give Waldron's a call tomorrow morning...............,
They say; It'll be here Friday!!! Those wipers are a real challenge!! I've got a rebuilt motor. All new vacuum hoses. Still, they don't work right. I'm thinking, about adding; a vacuum reservoir (?)o No:
HOORAY!! Exhaust system arrived today, from; Waldron's $370 for "Y" pipe, head pipe, muffler, tailpipe. Aluminized steel. $42 For; 2 hangers, 4 clamps, 2 gaskests. $100 Shipping, ______ $512 total parts New project, for Monday.
Sorry, I haven't answered. We had a storm that knocked out the phone and internet. It's still out. I'm at the library, now, for; the internet. AT&T are at my house trying to figure out what is going on. They spent 5 hours there yesterday (sunday); no joy......... I took the Roadmaster to my most trusted shop in town. Edgewood Auto Service Mr. Pettus Homewood, Alabama 35209 205-871-0547 Good, honest, dependable!!! Anything, that requires going under the car; I leave to him. He has'nt started on it, yet. He said first thing in the morning. I 'll update when I know more. ...........
It may indeed require welding. At the very least bending to make it fit. I am going to take it to a local muffler shop reccomended. First, thing; tomorrow.
A copy of my email I sent to Waldron; Dear Waldon, I am sending this to inform you of a problem with the exhaust system purchased by, my father; Joseph A. Miller, Jr. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX We are in receipt of the exaust system for the '55 Buick Roadmaster. All parts were including as expected and as appeared on the packing list. So, good. So, far. It was our understanding that this would be bolt up system. However: Today, our mechanic informs us that; the peices will not fit without bending. Now, our car requires transport to a muffler shop that; can facilitate the bending neccesary to make the system fit. The "Y" fits up nocely to the manifolds and around the oil filter. The short piece behind the "Y" is getting interference from the frame rail. The muffler and tail pipe lack meeting up by 2 inches. (please, see; attached photos) Waldron's came highly reccomended by fellows members at V8Buick.com that have purchased from you in the past. Perhaps, you know of V8Buick.com. A website of over 28,000 Buick enthusiasts. There are V8Buick.com members, that are interested in similar products; and, have asked for me to keep them updated on my car. Here is a link to that V8Buick.com thread; http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=229014 Please, do not hesitate to contact me with any question or comment on this matter. Very Sincerely Yours, James "Bulldog" Miller XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX xXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I got this Email at 8:07amCentral; Good morning Mr. Miller, We are very sorry to hear that there appears to be a problem with installing the exhaust system. This is never our intent and while the system is a direct fit once in a while we run into an issue. Jon has read your email and reviewed the photos and has some thoughts on what the problem might be. He will be calling you as soon as possible. Please bear with us as we try to help solve this problem. Kindest regards, Ruth And then an hour later; a phone call from; Jon at Waldron's. We had avery nice conversation. He said they have never had such a problem with this system before. Jon offered some solutions that I passed on to the installer. Jon assured me that; Waldron's will be helpful in resolving any issue.
