yep, that's mine now! The guy I bought it from took my 70 GS455 project car as partial trade too and he has made big progress on getting it back on the road!
Very nice, Kurt. FYI... the center piece in the set of plastic pieces that cover the area between the trunk lip and rear bumper is unobtanium. I have 2 of them and neither is perfect. They screws usually fell out from vibration then the plastic piece would drop out and be gone. Be sure you use loc-tite on the screws (or silicone sealer or SOMETHING) to secure the screws.
Yards, I"ll put a little clear silicone on those screws for sure. I'm still doing the motormount search but think I have discovered that a pass side 67mount will work as the left mount, just don't know if there is enough clearance to install the bolt from the back, I'll try it when I'm putting the engine back in if I don't find the correct mount before then
I do really love the way it looks with those redlines on it, I'm hoping to have it back on the road in the next month-ish
Kurt, if you need new headlight buckets let me know. I can send you a pic that shows the mod to make to the Camaro ones. $100 each for the buckets then a couple of bucks for some threaded rod. Then you need to find someone to weld the threaded rod onto the shaft of the bucket.
Kurt, RIVMAN posted this in another thread: On the lower firewall, just above the transmission, there is a plastic vacuum manifold distribution block, (...just follow the hose down from the intake manifold). The originals were made from a cellulose type of plastic that did not age to well, became brittle with engine heat, and is prone to stress cracks that results in a vacumm leak. That would be the first component to check - and if you don't have a shop manual yet, I strongly recommend you get one ! It is a wealth of information for the vacuum system used in the Riviera, in addition to anything else you will need to know about your car !! I replaced that original plastic manifold with a much better GM version, (#1239606) to get my hidden headlights to function properly... I eliminated that manifold altogether and just use vacuum "T's" in the vacuum lines and then hold the lines to the firewall with rubber coated clamps. I have my old manifold. You can have it if you need it. You can probably spray it with clear lacquer to seal it good. Not sure why your headlights are in the down position all the time. Let me know if you need to pick a brain about that.
Yards, I've gotten the headlights to kinda work, the cannisters were frozen,I soaked them in Evapo-rust and freed them up. I still might need new ones so I'd like to see that pic...I can weld so I'm good there. I can't test it more till I get the engine back in it. Those pics were taken by the seller. I would be interested in the Vacuum manifild, mine is good but looking a bit brittle. I have a 1968 and a 1970 service manual and that is getting me by for now but I will get a 69 one soon enough, this car has the ATC climate control A/C too so I'm in for all kinds of fun there! Here is a link to the album of my progress of the car, it's on facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/album.php?aid=2053581&id=1558411627
