Hey, hi, how ya doin? Drifted over, liked the board, and thought I'd say hi to everyone.

My name's Eric, and I live in Minneapolis.

Gramps gave a rusted pile called a '73 Centurion. This thing isn't worth restoring in my book since the body is so far gone. The only panel with out atleast five rust holes is the driver door. It's got the 455 and a TH400 (I assume) which is strong and healthy; just the body sucks.

My plans for this car (some of you may not like this so stop reading here) is to take the engine and tranny out and put it into my Jeep Cherokee which is a non-street legal off-road-only vehicle. I figured I'd part the car out for who ever wants what (or the whole thing) or junk it.

Mainly I am interested in learning more about the 455's, their potential, common build-ups, and that sort of thing. I don't post very much, more use the search function, and if I can't find an answer to my question, I'll post up.

    Great to meet y'all!

Welcome to the V8Buick board! If that 73 is a rust heap, no one here is likely to take offense at you pulling the drivetrain. We're happy to see a BBB swapped into most any make you can imagine... :)

Mainly the rust is around the windshield frame in the rear, around all the seams, the whole entire roof under the vinyl top (I poked my finger through the vinal and metalin more than one bubble). I know how die hard Jeep guys are on forums, so I just assumed Buick guys are the same. On Jeep forums you say you have a rusted out CJ-7 or something and they're screaming "fix that thing, don't junk it, I'll kill you!" I can understand if it's something worth fixing, but this would take major fabrication to repair; I would imagine it just isn't worth it on a 4DR Centurion. I could see if it was like a '67 GS or something "muscle", but not this cruiser sedan. I am interested in building this motor some though; eventually getting about 600BHP out of it. I'm gonna run it relatively stock for now to see how the front sump oil pan works on steep hill climbs. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one...
