I know it's early, but I hate to wait since Murphy has a way of f'ing things up. So I figured I'd start it off.

What are you planning to do for Stanton?

I've started building a new rear axle for the GT-37. I've waited far too long to fix the worn saf-t-trac in the car, but there wasn't always money in the car fund. I've procured a brand new Eaton LSD and a Richmond 3.90 ring and pinon courtesy of Jeff Sawruk. I also have the install kit from Yukon and just tonight bought the gear lube. The subject, a 69 GTO 2.56 rear axle assembly, code WB for those scoring at home. It's been gutted, blasted and painted. I just removed the old axle seals and both pinon bearing races, so I need to finish cleaning the inside then it's ready to go back together. I've already put the ring gear on the carrier using the old gear in the oven and carrier in the freezer trick. Was planning to torque the bolts tonight, but me thinks that'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I also will be dropping a check in the mail to smallhurst for a set of Goodyear Polyglas from the tire buy he has arranged. Thanks Rusty :TU:

I also need to some work on the trans and with the new rear axle will come all new rear brakes.

Oh, and I'm also trying to get my W-31 ready for an Olds race the weekend before Stanton. And I'm trying to get rid of all these boxes at my place so I can put it on the market. So I have lots of free time  Given the market, I think waiting until after I return from Stanton to put the house on the market is probably not gonna hurt.

Yeah, the night before is always the most fun to do the hardcore thrashing!:Dou:

I really only have to rebuild the carb and change the jets and rods, if I ever get around to ordering them.:Do No:
I did manage to find a set of "correct E heads" but I won't be getting them until probably the week before Stanton
and It would be real close to have them cleaned, machined (to legal specs) :Brow: , assembled and installed in a week.
And it needs to be washed.

The only thing I should do is change the oil, not sure how long it's been, lube front end, check the clutch release, might be close to time for a new pressure plate and clutch, it's been over 10 yrs I think, and replace the radiator overflow with the NOS one, as the aftermaket decided it had had enough of being wire tied to the core support, or find a mountain dew bottle to put in it's place, other than that, good to go, probably a vacuuming of the interior might be in order again, as I missed some junk from the mices that were in there a few years ago. see you all next month! :beer :bglasses:

My new exhaust has been ordered.

Hopefully it will be here soon for installation before the race.

    Gotta love Kingpin.
That and Big Lebowski are 2 of my favorites.

Got all the parts out of the 66 to fix the 68 (clutch, trans, shifter, big yoke for the driveshaft.) Will be starting the transplant (Super T10) tomorrow morning. Should be straight forward, but when's the last time that happened? Hope to run it the week before at Byron to learn how to drive it all over with the changes. Didn't really get a chance to do that at Martin. Biggest concern is wheel hop. I removed the wheel hop bars when I changed to the 4.10 just before Martin.

If she wheel hops, may just put it on the trailer. That car always did except when we had the no hops on it.

The thrashing is over for Stanton (and Byron the week before). With some stellar help today and 2 cases of Blue, The ST10 is in and all that's left is the cleanup.

Sure love the way it shifts. :3gears: :3gears:

no car this year = no thrashing
well, maybe thrashing about BECAUSE I don't have a car!

What I'm doing I don't think counts as thrashing, but I have been in the barn alot lately.

Rear end almost done. That just leaves ball joints, tie rods, lets just say all the front end. Pick up motor install lets just say drive train, carpet etc etc etc etc I hate my life
