a car shows up with (cringe) headers and aftermarket intake? Team Simpson is working hard cleaning up the recent Yenko Nova purchase but it's not legal for Factory Stock competition. If it's ok with the group, we'd like to race it next week and establish a baseline before we get it ready for next years events. Any objections? <a href="http://s256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/17atsunset/1970%20Chevrolet%20Nova%20Yenko%20Deuce/?action=view¤t=nova2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/17atsunset/1970%20Chevrolet%20Nova%20Yenko%20Deuce/nova2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
OMG!!!!!! Can you do anything more to offend!!!!!!! Put slicks on it and everyone can make fun of it!!!! ou: ou: :moonu:
Slicks would certainly offend. I'm sure Grandma would approve of this one though. <a href="http://s256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/17atsunset/1970%20Chevrolet%20Nova%20Yenko%20Deuce/?action=view¤t=nova3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/17atsunset/1970%20Chevrolet%20Nova%20Yenko%20Deuce/nova3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I'm not a Factory Stock or Pure Stock racer so maybe my opinion doesn't count here, but here it is anyway. Simply put, if it isn't par with the rules then why bother? I'm a little unclear if you're asking to actually compete in a class where others are not allowed headers and intakes or if you are just asking to show up and make an exhibition run. If yes to the first part then I'd vote no, it's just not fair to the others in the class. If the latter then heck yeah, it would be fun to watch, but isn't this sort of thing what brings on problems at these races? And do you not feel others will expect the same treatment if it is allowed? If you want a baseline then go get one at a test and tune.
Bring it on, Bruno.....I sure don't have a problem with that...but i also like the idea of the cast iron manifolds in the trunk...LOL.. Neat car...
You have to understand, Bruno would never try to disguise this and he never wants to make anyone upset. He is a very good friend to all of the racers and it is almost laughable that anyone would be upset by Bruno bringing this out. There are some kids of some of the racers that bring some of their more modern stuff out and play with us on Test -n -tune day, but are never in he shootouts!!! It is a family thing!!!
Who's gonna be offended o No:, likely no one. As Rusty said, there are usually a couple of oddball cars that make a few time trials on the first day anyway. This will be a good comparison. It will be nice to see it now and then compare that with how much better it runs after it gets a legal engine/exhaust etc. The stocker they are, the faster they run.....
i have one i'd like to bring also. it has a few non factory stock parts and i'd like to also get a few runs on before i make some changes. great idea. the camaro is apart so it will be great to run in the event. thanks!:TU: <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c2/Ls6racer/forum/?action=view¤t=66nova.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2/Ls6racer/forum/66nova.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Didn't take you long to put a new set of shoes on that thing Bruno and Pete! Is the Motor good enough to make it thru the weekend???o No: Amazing what plugs and wires will do.
Thank you for explaining that to me. It certainly has more meaning than the less tactful way of telling me I'm sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong.
I've always been surprised there aren't more 66-67 Nova SS L79 cars. They were killers on the street in stock form..Did all of them get turned into race cars? (Except you, Tom...:TU: :bglasses
