From Buick approx 3500 not including GS models which were special car order and we do not have any accurate number of all the GS Suncoupes. Thanks to Mark Macoubrie we do know that they made 6 Stage 1 Suncoupes
You need to register your car with Steve Caruso's Sun Coupe Registry at http://www.carusoperformance.com/suncoupe.html . According to documentation Steve has, the total produced is 3943, not including the GS's with the Sun Coupe roof. As John said, we now know that of the GS's, only 6 of them were Stage 1's, but still don't know exactly how many GS's total had the roof. http://v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=135749&d=1238283692 :TU: :TU:
Looks like a little steam action on the headliner and a repaint on the trim as it should not be glossy and I am good to go. Now I have to get the paint straightened out and make sure they have the NOS fenders correctly adjusted.
Now its back to the body shop. They are really a resto shop. The power windows, rubber and front and back glass all the trim including upper peak, drip rail, front and back window chrome is all being polished. The side moldings are being worked on and polished to make them look as good as possible. I am looking for a perfect set of door edge guards maybe NOS to complete the original trim that was on the car. It also gets the decklid and quarter ext chrome thats all done and ready to install. The Tri City re-chromed front (NOS) and rear N 25 are close to install as is the buicket seats and console with New Legendary covers, and door panels. Now I have to order the aluminum parts for the shifter from Mike G
I forgot to askou: It looks like he made some and glued them on from thin vynil. Also on the slots for the bows he glued convertable material on eithwer side of the slot and sewed it in. So the slots would not elongate
Good idea for the slots. Mine are pretty stretched out. I'll have to remember that when I get the top done. :TU:
Top looks great John, nice and tight. I bet it takes both hands to close the latch all the way. :TU: I need to make some of those bow caps for my car too.
I may have a line on someone who can make up some caps for us. I'm waiting to hear back from them for a quote. Will post more info as soon as I hear back from them. :TU:
I know this might sound stupid , but Icound not find caps either,so I just cleaned the ends well and folded a piece of duct tape around the end twice where it is nice and smooth so the material will slide on with no problem, this way if andwhen I do get some end pieces it will come off just as easy.....put the tape on right and it will not cut material or scratch paint.....I know this sounds cheap but it works for now....
randy got any pics of your Suncoupe? You can Email them to me at john.kemper@sbcglobal.net and I can post them if your having trouble. ALso I am collecting pictures for an upcoming calender for 2012
Got those pics and your car looks great. If you want I can post these for you in Members Rides section.
I would appreciate it I do not have enough post to put them in,like I said I can just barely turnon this computer
So the fenders got installed . The driver was welded bad at the factory and since the "restoration" shop did not fit it prior to painting there is a bad gap on the drivers door. The fender has very bad alignment on the factory alignment holes Car still looks pretty good with the exception of some chips in the paint and the door gap isn't terrible. They are going to try to make it better but still have to set the hood. I expect that will show that there needs to be some morew work and a major repaint after they try to make the front end align.
Are the fenders aftermarket? sometimes aftermarket sheetmetal always has to be tweeked to make it right...
