Is it done yet Larry??? Lebanon is just one more day away. Best to get some test & tune done BEFORE Cecil. YES???
Get it done Larry! I’m with Tom and the guys liking his post, try and make tomorrow! Big showing is best for all of us!
OK, got the GV bolted up and took it for a ride to the Friday cruise night. The good news is it is shifting into overdrive where before it was not. The bad news is that it drops out of overdrive randomly, and then goes right back in. When it drops out, I lose the green light. Called GV and they said that is electrical. I think I may have pinched a wire when I pulled the transmission for the converter swap. I'll have to do some more diagnosing. I'll call them again after the holiday, but at least it is shifting when before it wouldn't at all.
Probably drops in and out because lack of low end torque. You know your heads are to big for a street engine right?
OK, the latest is, I have an electrical problem, probably in one of the harnesses. I most likely pinched one of the wires during my transmission R&R. In any case, I checked my signal generator with a multi meter on the AC scale. Supposed to put out between 1 and 3 volts at constant speed. I disconnected my speedo cable, ran it with a drill, and it was within spec. GV now uses an updated box (made by MSD). My old box is outdated and uses telephone cable connectors. Not only does it make it more difficult to test, but it isn't compatible with the new box. So, I went for the new stuff. Should have it by the middle of next week. I'll update you all then.
That's what I said. Mike said they have been very reliable. The new box has been in existence for 2 years, and he hasn't seen one come back. He also told me it shifts quicker, and it is possible to modify the shift point with a laptop. We will see.
Hey Larry,May I hijack your thread and ask how deep the over drive is?How much does the rpm drops? What rpm is at 60 mph? Thanks in advance.
Alot of wiring I have to do. There is what looks like a mini USB connector. It is plugged up. Not going to mess with it right now.
