Bought it like what, restored? If you follow the posts from beginning it was not bought like this? Still not sure of your thought process here and don’t want to assume but it’s all good.
Thanks for all the compliments - much appreciated... Some updates... I finished assembling the convertible top frame. I installed all new bushings and all the original bolts were re-plated. Did have 2 new packages of the correct 9422297 nuts for the top and used them. I had the original latch knuckles, alignment pin and hooks re-chromed and installed new springs and roll pins.
Installed the rear rain gutter, trim stick and installed the top into car. With the top on looks more like a car but looks like lots of adjustment when windows and weatherstrip go in, overall went together and in easier than I thought it would. Also for those that install a new top or restore a top, the pinch welt vinyl molding for the front header bow (next to last picture) is from CJ Pony parts and it's for a 67-68 Mustang and is the premium/original stuff. This went on really nice and looks good. Thanks to Duane for the reference.
Finally got the radiator and hoses installed. Used NOS insulators and original tag and overflow clip. Stole the original big ear RC-15 cap from my GTO and cleaned it up. Installed shroud and radiator top plate.
Installed the Battery, it was a Antique Auto Battery and it was very nice with date codes stamped. I never opened the box since June 2017 and first I looked at it. Still had a 75% charge but I charged it fully and put in it. Filled power steering pump washer bottle, radiator and bled the brakes and installed the NOS master cylinder cap and gasket. After removing the yellow wire from the starter (forgot I installed the electronic module and about had a heat attack when I touched the cable to battery and stater spun) I again connected the battery and watched for sparks or fire and nothing so I must of did good with the wiring.
Terry this is insane. You need to donate your mind to science. The anality on this resto is on another level. So impressive. You should top it all off with a Fram oil filter.
Finally after August of 2011 and when Gary ran it on the test stand, I put gas in the tank and turned the key, she fired right up. After some minor adjustments to the idle it sounds strong, and the gardner exhaust sounds great. I was so excited made a drink and sat and smoked a cigar I been saving for the occasion. Hope this works..
Taped off car and installed the header vinyl, came out great. Installed the upper metal panels, sunvisor brackets, original pillar pads, latch receivers, rear view mirror and cap and sunvisors. The rear view mirror is NOS along with the end caps, visor sleeves, and the cap for the rear view mirror. Forgot who sent me pics of the ends for the vinyl placement but thanks, it helped a bunch.
