some requests for more pictures.. Remember panels on this car are fiberglass except roof and quarters. Thanks
After watching that video that car did not leave as hard as it could. If you watch my vidieo my car leaves at 5000 RPMs and it is violent! I just have a stock 455 .030 over. If that car left as strong as mine it should carry the wheels 60 foot. The car looks great! Is that a 10 to 1 engine?
Wheelies are for show! If wheelies made you go faster Pro Stocks would be pulling the wheels half the way down the strip. Who wants the front end high in the air slowing the car down. Buicks make great show cars so we pull the big wheelies. How many saw what Dave Benisek and Bruce Kent did with the Apollo. Those very fast runs came with the wheels only about an inch off the ground. With some new heads he can put that car in the 7's. We should have flow tests in about 10 days. Someone buy this car, it's a great deal!!!!!!!!!
Spoken by man that knows Buicks! Thanks Ken :TU: P.S. I have an appointment to have the roll cage fixed and certified for 8.50 by the end of March.. This car will see a 9.99 pass this year!
Ok here's the story, I was running 10.90's with stock short block and needed to slow it down. put up to 200 lbs in the trunk and started pulling big wheelies but guess what it only slowed down a 10th at the most. Then I took all the weight out and was lifting the front end about a foot. Car might have picked up a 10th and there was no tire spin. So if you have stock suspension with air bags putting all the weight on the back and doing a little tweaking to suspension actually helped with 60 foot and more consistency. I'm thinking the weight unloading from the rear is what was slowing it down a bit. Now if you have racing 4-link you can adjust for all that and yes it will be faster going forward instead of up. So untill I buy that car or 4-link my own I will be shooting for wheelies!!!!!! Hey it works for me and don't slow me down! First pic is without weight. Second pic with weight. The first was actually about 2-3 10th slower running Pertonix ignition instead of Stinger. If I can get the wheelies without weight that's the way I will have it.
P.S. I have an appointment to have the roll cage fixed and certified for 8.50 by the end of March. The car is at the chassis shop to fix the roll cage and get NHRA inspected to cert the cage to 8.50. I'm also having him build me a chromoly TH400 cross member. That should free up a few pounds.. So you 9 second range guys who were on the bubble about the car because of the cage. No worries.. It needed to be done because I will have a 9 second pass this year maybe even 8's with god's help and :dollar::dollar: :TU:
Can't wait to see the car all done. I guess you will bring it to the Spring Meeting April 7th to show it off.
Get some Koni dragshocks, they really help make the car go forward instead of up in the air. ---------- Post added at 08:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:57 AM ---------- Nice car! And good luck with the sale. What are the HP/Torque numbers of your engine?
I got the call from chassis shop. The cage has passed NHRA 8.50 certification. So your good for years to come.. I will not increase the price of the roller to reflect this new change. I'm willing to eat this cost to move this car.. ---------- Post added at 06:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:09 PM ---------- Robert, Thank You.. I never put the car or engine on the dyno but check out what it has inside.. All good stuff..
PM returned ---------- Post added at 11:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 PM ---------- Todd, That was a Fun day.. You coming down again?
A few requests for interior and engine bay shots. Remember not everything pictured is included with the roller package. http://s789.photobucket.com/user/cellguy169/library/Blue Buick
