That sure is purty! There's a guy local to me that had his GS painted that color. Drool-worthy, to say the least. Sold it, though, and now has an AMX.:Dou:

Port Hueneme SeaBee base? I'm in Simi Valley and drive to Redondo Beach every day. Ain't gonna reenlist, though (too old, anyway). Wanna trade homes?

do you have to strip all the paint to bare metal before you paint?

I did strip all the paint off - using paint stripper. You should talk to a body guy and see what he thinks of what you have now. If you have good lines and don't need much bondo work I would guide coat, block it and see what you have. If you block it with 180, it will show everything.

    New pics to come soon

Here are some photos with the bumpers on I have still lots of little things to clean and touch-up. In the process of installing an alpine sound system. It's amazing driving this and how many people stop and give compliments and want to buy / own it.

The number plate was just one from the pile at the DMV, pretty amazing to get GS and 70 in the same plate.

Matt, your car turned out really well. I think that is a fantastic color for these cars especially with the black. Whats next? :)

    Yes very nice looking :TU:

It does look different without the body color in the middle of the stripe but it works.

Congrats on going home and bringing her with you :TU:

Yes that orange is loud :Brow: , I like it :eek2: !!!

I like the main body black and yellow stripes also, I like the black main color and gold stripes combo also.

I'll stick with my main body yellow and black and red stripes though, I get a lot of :TU: driving down the road or a lot of :TU: at the cruise nights.

When I did over my 77 Old's and my 78 Chevy PU I striped it down to bare and then went from there.

That way you know what you are working with and you can lay down the right stuff to make the paint job really POP .

    Wonderful job on your car.
I see your using a Harbor Freight Compressor.
How was it in doing your car?
Did you do the paint car yourself?

LowFlyLark Time for a mild custom.

The color is great in the sun. I love how it picks up the area around it and changes colors. I wanted that color on mine but I changed my mind at the last minute. Seeing yours makes me second guess. I see we picked the same wheels.

Good work blocking that body. Very smooth.:TU:

No the Harbour freight compressor won't do it. You can put down primer with it. I had a paint guy with the right set-up spray the car. I probably did 80% percent on the body and he finished the rest. He charged $3500. It would be $10k or more for a body shop to do it all.

The color is pretty amazing, it sparkles !! In Australia I can just tell them it's a stock color . :pp With the blocking I didn't know what I was doing and then moved back to my old house, my new neighbor was a custom body guy and he came over every night and helped out. Showed me to be patient and all the wrong things i was doing. The key is to just work on one area only and get it right if you do more you will just get discouraged. And we know how that goes.
