Looking for a restored, numbers matching, automatic, non A/C GSX.

Prefer a non-stage car in yellow, but willing to consider a white car, or a stage car. In any case, non A/C is mandatory.

Before you ask what my budget is, it is dependent on the condition of the car.

Randy I am curious why do you prefer a Non Stage ? Seems like most people are wanting the stage1 engine.

I think only 199 non stage auto's were made and of them I am unsure how many have A/C or not.

I have been looking for years for a non-stage, NON A/C :) you should think they were easy to come by, when everyone wants stg1 and A/C, but no.

    Hi Ryan

Call me goofy, but I prefer the look of the red valve covers over the chrome. Also, the non-stage is rarer. I know that does not translate to greater value in all cases.

As George Gobel once said "Did you ever get the feeling that the world was a tuxedo and you were a pair of brown shoes?"

I see a lot of people are looking for NON A/C. I think the engine bay looks really nice with no A/C stuff on it. I was more interested in the reason Randy was looking for a NON Stage but I get it.

    Hey Ryan

When I bought my GSX from Mark, it was not exactly what I wanted, but the car was too nice to pass up. I figured I could always get what I really want at a later date. When I bought it, it had chrome valve covers and I did not like the look. They just cause too much reflection in the engine bay and detracts from the beauty of the red paint. I have attached two images. One of my engine bay when I bought the car and one after I made some changes. I truly think the red looks better.

The red valve covers do look really nice. I am doing "Day 2" stuff on my engine and GSX. I just like the vintage cool and unusual stuff that was on our cars back in the day. I hope to find some vintage stuff that brings back some good memories for myself and others when they see it.

Randy I just got a call yesterday from a fellow in Thunder-Bay that has a car that he got from the original owner probably 20+ years ago? His son has a paint shop in Winnipeg and has the car and he’s somewhat been restoring it for 10-15 years now? He saw me at a show in Thunder Bay a few weeks ago when I showed my 72x , he is asking me if I have a rear quarter and fenders, so it’s probably a long way off from being done. I’ll stay in touch with him but and after his call to me yesterday asking if I have room for more Buicks in my garage I’m now wondering if he is interested in selling the car. Yellow, non air, non stage, non power steering auto car. FYI my 72 x won best muscle car and Chris Jacobs from overhauling gave me the award…talk soon. Gordon

Sandy's QQ X is non stage auto without AC. Didn't know they were that rare.

They are fairly rare only 199 non stage auto. Then even less because some where 10-10 and Q-Q and after that you drop down even lower production numbers to ones with no air.

My old GSX #96 was a 10-10 Non Stage 4spd with air. Couldn't have been many made that way.

I prefer a Stage1 without air. One simple reason. The 3:64 axle.
So now I have a question. What ratio comes in a ‘70 non stage car without air?

    If it is a 4 speed I would guess a 3:64 gear

Aren't they 3.42....? I know my non air 70 Olds 4 speed has a 3.42 so could be conflating the two.

    My #380, qq, non-stage, no-A/C , 4spd is a 3.42. Anyone know of the 79, how many were qq vs. 10-10?

that answers that. It does look nice with engine red paint. Nice ride!
I do know a ‘72 GS455 non Stage, non air comes with a 3:08. My good friend bought his when we were in high school. Was with him doing burnouts while he stuck a rod through the original block
