I have one of the nine, 4 speeds. I wish I still had the old engine; but, it is long gone, along with the heads and the intake manifold. Young, broke and stupid, was the only way to go through life. If I knew now what I knew then, I wouldn't have thrown the heads away in the woods (couldn't fit the beer cooler in the trunk with those damn heads). If someone has a metal finder, they can check in the woods (probably a housing development by now) in Patchogue for them. Only fragments of a Fisher Body sheet remains. Oh well, live and learn. I don't believe I will be selling it in the near future, my wife is going to bury me in it when I die (which will be soon if I don't finish it). Len
That's where the current registries would be able to help...if all the owners participated. I know of several cars in which the owners have no interest/desire in registering their GS/GSX.
Mine is registered with Marco! We should all register our stage 1 cars! That being said, I am sure most of the 81 can be drilled down to 1 of 1 with certain options. Mine is a platinum mist SCO car with black buckets, sport mirrors, N25 exhaust and the 14" wide oval group. I don't expect there were any more with this group of options/colors. Glad you are keeping a car you seem to really enjoy. No matter what money you have in it, my advice is to always spend it on what you really want to own. Good Luck!
I wish I could remember exactly where, I would have been there already. I was on my way to a party at my old bosses house, his name, I believe, was Warren Shoop (Shoppe/Short) something like that. He was around Patchogue or Sayville, I know, awfully close to Jason. I just can't remember the street, it was like Montuak Highway when it splits from Sunrise Highway, but I don't think it is Montuak. It has been 23 years or so ago. My Dad was going to look for it; but, I couldn't remember. He is also close to there. The intake manifold was still in my parents house when they sold it around 10 years ago. I can still remember it sitting on my Dad's work bench for the longest time, it weighed a ton. I try to see if my memory comes back to me; and, I'll check with my buddy that went to the party with me. He also, lives in Sayville, as a matter of fact that is where I brought the car when I got it from Jason. Len
One in Saint John, N.B.. I looked at it & had GM verify it was actually a Stage 1. Car currently not road worthy. Frame & suspension restored with body sitting on the frame on wooden blocks. Needs quarters & lots of TLC. All there less the original engine. Looks like the mate to a car on Marco's site. Cortez Gold, white & white. Owner not interested in selling at the time. Left my contact info. should circumstances change.
