How would the defogger work? The Convertible top liner on my '68 GS would not allow the air to blow on the back window. Do you have to modifiy the well liner?

The seller of this set-up says it came out of a hardtop, I thought the coupe/hartop version mounted directly to the package tray :Do No:

    Is this for a convertible?

    Mike,
The one you have posted looks like ones I have seen on 70 Camaro's and early 70 GS/Skylark coupe/hardtops. It might also be a 69 part, but not sure.

Give me any part numbers you see.

    Hi Mike,

My Convert. has that option, but I never could use it because I'm missing the duct and the grille. Also I only drove the car a couple of times in the rain and never during the winter. I guess the previous owner thought it might be a good option to have here in Canada. In the 70s we had a lot more snow then we do now.
So, I really can't tell you how effective it works until I get the two pieces I'm looking for.

The set up in your picture is hard to tell what it is out of.
If you see any part numbers on any of the three pieces there. Give them to me. I have all the original part books from GM.

    Thanks, Bert

    defogger

The picture in this post is for a hardtop...the convert defogger has a curved duct to position the duct outlet facing at an angle upward...the grille fits on the well side of the liner, and all a-bodiy converts have the cutout already in the metal bulkhead behind the rear seat...the cutouts are also there for the motor and squirelcage, which draws air from the inside of the backseat, which is presumeably a warmer space than the trunk....the duct has 2 tabs for screws which mount into either side of the square opening that allows acess to the top motor from the backseat bulkhead...this is a reaaly cool setup if one can find the right parts....btw--the standard dash accesssory wire harness for cruise also has a plug for the defog unit----all in the learning /dis  covery curve--I will try to get some pics soon for all to see

    Check E-Bay. I saw a blower unit today. Late '60's/early '70's GM A-body ragtop.
    I searched under GS.

I think the 71 up impalas or centurions had the same cutout behind the seat in the converts..?They might have the grille you need:Do No:

    Hi John,

    Thank you for the suggestion.
I will check my Buick books to see if they both took the same grille.

Let me start off by saying I'm an Olds guy and still have a lot to learn about Buicks. Not trying to hi-jack this thread but today I was in a bone yard looking at a 1969 Electra 4 door and noticed it had a rear window defogger attached to the back of the rear seat that can be seen from inside the trunk. The Oldsmobile ones I'm familiar with are attached to the underside of the package tray. Is this the normal place for Buick defoggers to fit? Does this fit anything besides the full sized and would this be worth me going back for? Thanks, John
