It's my daily driver, all numbers matching. Is it ok for the Pure Stock or will I have to convert it into a Stage 1 car ?

Cool car. Does NOT need to be a Stage 1 for PSMCDR. It is a GS and it has a 455 and it was built between 1955 and 1974, so you're in.

Bring it on out. It's just what I need. Another big, bruiser Buick mopping up the track with my lightweight (compared to the Buick) Dodge. :ball:

As long as it follows the rules you're "golden". Now, just take off the headers and the big meats in back and the Edelbrock intake and Barry Grant carb............:Brow:

Really I'm a Ford racer. I have a Comp Elem. (B/AA) 1988 Thunderbird and a Super Stock 1973 Torino, so I like the BBFs. But I've built a couple Stock Elem. cars and trucks. (My favrorite stocker; my best buddy's 1992 Dodge Dakota, we set a IHRA record a couple years ago @ Ohio Valley Raceway).

Sell it and build a Ford, we need more Fords. Pay no attention to 340FJR, the poor guy suffers from MOPARITUS!:bla:

I'm going to race my Buick just to see how fast within the rules I can get it to go.

BTW- Love your Ford. My mother had a '57 Custom w/a 292 ci back when I was a kid. (the 60's)

Heck yeah, sell that buick and build a Ford.
    I've been curious how a 65 K-code (289 HI-PO) Mustang would do, or
better yet a 65 Shelby Mustang. Cough, cough, never mind the headers.

Should run in the high 13 range if tuned right. The car should have a posi in it befor you take it racing.

Thats the et's I'm shooting for. The car has the factory posi, and I'm thinking 3.90 gears.

    BTW- Are 15x8 rims ok?

    NO
you have to use what was available, which was 15x7 with either a reproduction Goodyear Polyglas GT G60-15, or a 255-60-15 radial:TU:

    Pascoe,
Go to the PSMCDR site and use the link for "Rules." That will tell you everything you'll need to know. If you build the car to those rules it'll be legal everywhere.

I just noticed your sig says (2) 1973 4 speed Stage 1 cars? Now that is really neat. I don't think I've ever seen one of those 73-77 Buick A cars with a 4 speed.

The 73-77 GM A cars are really a neat almost overlooked group and their values show it. I think they were a great cross between the Full Size cars and the earlier cars. While not as fast (because they were much heavier) they sure were more comfrotable and rode much better than the 72 and earlier ones. Having one (let alone 2) of them with the 455 and a 4 speed is quite an accomplishment. My congrats.

I'm all Oldsmobile (so kidding, really :eek2: ) and had only one 4 speed car in that era, a 1973 442, but was a 350 car. I really liked it, but my wife hated it...??? I drove a coupla 1973 442 Olds test cars that were 455 4 speeds, and really liked the feel. Reminded me of the big 4 speed cars of the early 60's.

Run one of them in Pure Stock. I'd love to see it. :beers2:

While you guys are looking at 73-77 GM mid sizes, don't forget the 454 shovel Malibus (?) or the 400/455 73 GTO's. You could get a four speed 400 or a Turbo 400 /455 combo. Nice car, had some quality issues though.:Dou:
