This has been covered and argued to death in the past.
Disregard tire conversion charts, put a 255-60-15 next to a G60-15, and next to a puny 245-60-15 and you'll see which is closer to a G60-15.
The 255-60-15 is allowed, so run it.

    255-60-15

Some tire manufacturer's have already discontinued the 245's becuase they don't match up with anything.

What kind of rims are you looking for and where aree you? I have some driver quality 15 x 7 Buick Chrome rallye wheels with the A body bolt pattern. Cheap.

PM me if nearby, too heavy and expensive to ship.

Let me dig them out and take some pics. I'll also weigh one to get a feeling for the weight. May take a coupla days to do that as it's really cold here right now. Don't have the centers, as I use Olds SS1 centers on them on my 442's. I'll PM the pics to you.

Glad it worked out. I have a very nice set of these wheels on my 66 442 with the Olds SS1 centers. Other than the weight, they're great wheels for A bodies if you want 15 inch chrome wheels.

Flu subsiding. but only 10 degrees out. I'll stay in.

I'v e had it 10 years and only driven it once (last summer). Across the street to my neighbors and back. Motor's gotta come out again. Doesn't have enough power to pull up on the trailer. Barely runs.

rims picked up last night sorry Dave Kent just had to go with no shipping route. Turns out I have known Kent for years. We raced against eachother in the mid eighties when his 73 Torino was just getting its 514 and he had no sponser. We talked about the old days at Gateway before the new track.
He even remembered my old 70 plain jane Torino with the 429 CJ ramm air . Formal roof bench seat. The original rear had beenm removed and had a n old 9" equa-lock in it that was toast. I remember not getting any traction with the car and a friend at the track ran up to me after a pass and said " man you blew a head gasket on that run" Well the rubber on the RR quarter told a different story. The track announcer said "someone should tell that guy that the burnout contest was last week" I was so pissed that I could not hook up I stayed in it all the way thru the lights with the RR Spinning all the way down . Thanks in good part to those Goodyear ST radials. Anyone remember those?

I did one of those pegleg monster burnouts at the Dick Miller Olds Nats in Norwalk a few years ago in my 65 442. I was in the car show only and he let us run the cars down the strip once. I had pulled out the 3.90 posi and put in a 3.23 open to sell it. Crowd loved it.

Speaking of Eagle STs and long burn-outs ......

My very first time down the strip was for an NMCA event (many years ago) at Stanton. This was my '70 W-30, which had 3.23 posi and Eagle STs at the time. Trying to launch gingerly but with good reaction time was an exercise in patience -- and inconsistency -- as you Pure Stockers know. On one pass I decided to see what would happen if I stayed in it even if it broke loose. I managed to keep it straight while laying two strips of rubber down the entire track. When I felt the back end get a little squirrely at about the 1000' mark, I decided, "this is silly" and lifted. Not a very good ET that pass. :Smarty:

I still have those Eagle STs sitting in my garage (early 80s vintage).
