I never heard of such a thing either, but like you it's not my main area of interest. My inlaws did have an 87 and it was a fun car. I would like to have one.
I googled it and this is what I found.

"The 1982 Buick Grand National began as a regal-based trim package created to exploit Buick's success on the NASCAR circuit. Silver-gray and charcoal-gray two-toning, plus stripes and other accents, were eye-catching, but this Grand National looked meaner that it really was.
A 4.1-liter V-6 produced a mild 125 bhp -- sufficient to make the GN a reasonably brisk performer, but one easily outclassed by the relatively mild Camaros and Firebirds of the day, and even by its less flashy sibling, the turbocharged Regal T-Type. Still, the '82 Grand National was a great-looking car, and the fact that just 215 were built for the model year would seem to make collectibility obvious."

Sounds like a non turbo, test the waters car.

Buick had turbo V6 regals as early as '78 and some chevy MCs had the buick turbo v6.

The '82 GN was not a turbo car with the 4.1 v6. From wat I understand, a few were made with the 3.8 turbo because some of the dealers figured out how to over ride the order and get the turbo 3.8. Only about 10-19 had the turbo 3.8.

There were turbo 82's. I know where one is. One of my best friends bought it for his daughters 16th birthday 20 years ago. Last I knew this one is in great shape. Missing the factory wheels. Probably has net been driven for a long time though. As far as I know she still has it and knows what it is. At one time I could have bought it for $5000. It may now be one of the rarest Buicks. I doubt that there are 10 left.

The one on Craigslist has the hood buldge. That doesn't mean it is a Turbo car, but it could be.

So,

who is posting misinformation?

Also, why do people feel the need to post in BOLD when they think they are schooling someone? It just makes them look like a TOOL when they are WRONG.

and what part of "from what I understand" don't you understand?

The link is indeed correct. Only the turbo cars had a hood bulge. At that time it was possible to pull a few strings on getting cars. The one my friend bought was purchased by the brother of a Buick executive.

My brother-in-law mixed the firemist paint. At the time the firemist was the most expensive paint that Dupont made.

There were 16 out of the 215 82 GN's built that were turbo cars and had domed hood.
The rest Non Turbo GN's had flat hoods.
