Rob, thanks for reminding me that we were in Commerce, GA. I don't know if I've been to too many tracks, or if I'm just getting senile. The thing I remembered from both Commerce & St. Louis, was that both tracks had acres & acres of PAVED parking and pit space. When an old SOB like me spends half of his track time laying under his car, amenities like pavement really come to mind.
Actually, Tom Cannon did remind me at Beaver Springs in July when I went up to the line in my shorts again.
Old people don't leave skid marks, they fart dust. Who knows, maybe you'll live this long to be able to discover that yourself. :bglasses:
PLENTY of paved acreage at Gateway Raceway http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=gateway+raceway I can remember when the track went the OTHER direction, and had only grass/gravel to pit on....ok I'll turn off the "way back when machine". ElectraJim FWIW, looks like that there will be no class I am eligible to participate in. Mabey there will be a time for the "also ran" cars to run.
I like it! Wonder if they have one with suspenders? Did you ever hear of the OOOOOOooooooooEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bird? It was a bird that had nuts that hung down longer than its legs. When it landed, it went: "OOOOOOooooooooEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
I just spoke with the organizers of the race. They are getting ready to lauch the flyer and their website. They have a list of hotels they are going to work with and have discounts at. I mentioned that we wanted a 'home base' for our guys and he said that he would work with me on that. As for special guest, Big Daddy is signed up for this event and the one in Kansas City. According to the organizer, Big said that he was doing the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green and these 2 events and that is it!!! And for those of you that saw Big at KC, you saw his 'last' burnout. They still have more to go, but this will definately have Old Skool written all over it!:3gears:
