Let's see if we can do this without anyone being called a clown, a cheater, or getting a finger poked in their chest.......

    I'll go first...

Want to put a end to cheating? Tech everyone! Your car doesn't pass tech why should you be able to race with the guys that did pass tech.

Only problem is that takes alot of manpower. I can think of a pile of cars that don't even pass a visual inspection, they race year after year.

So to me it seems clear that Dan and Bob want nothing to do with tech so it would seem like they should have less rules or actually tech the ones they have.

This way one guy doesn't get singled out by the angry mob and everybody can get along at the party in the parking lot.

Tom's right, if you have no intention on pulling the transmissions apart to check for all the cool junk the rule should read like this:

1.00:Transmission will be checked for stall speed (2600rpm max) checked by foot breaking until tire spins.
1.01- Converter must be with in + or - 1"inch from stock size in diameter
1.02- Vehicle will be test driven and must shift through all 3 gears on it's own, passing gear must be functional.
1.03- shift kits allowed, no manual valve body's, must have stock shift pattern ( no reverse valve body's)

That way it's fair for everybody, pass the tech and you can race. Or leave it like it is and you can pick and choose who you want to go fast. Or pull all the fast cars down and check the transmissions on all the cars in the back row.

To everybody who made the list congrats! You have been singled out as guy's who have exceptional running cars and you get the opportunity to prove your legal. Worse not to make the list IMO. :TU: is that list posted anywhere?

What do you feel the racing advantages of a full manual valve body are? I can see the advantage of a reverse valve body to keep you from going into neutral or reverse, but what's the big deal on having a manual valve body or not?

    Just asking.....

Why not just run the Fast class ,along with the Pure Stock class. That way if you dont pass the tech, you get bumped.Dan and Bob are two really great guys, who would not enjoy having to tell someone to go home,so instead, bump them. If the PSMCDR had a FAST class,I probably would only have Fast cars in my garage.I really enjoy the Stanton race,so i keep it stock. You already will probably have 5 or so cars running in the 11,s anyways(which all will probably pass the heavy tech),so who is kidding who.11 second stock cars? Even though they tech well, the guy in the stands will never think they are stock.Unfortunately nothing ever stays the same, sometimes you have to adapt,.........or not.

I think heavy Tech could be a good thing. Sounds like they are trying to take stand outs from each brand. I know they were talking about the name pull out of a hat for a couple people to be random also. Don't know if that's still happening- but that would be good to keep people on there toes. And couldn't be accused of picking on a brand or person, just luck of the draw.

As for the trans?? I do like what Dave Dudek suggested to me, flip a coin, Trans or engine. Which will it be???? " Are you feeling lucky punk " sorry was a clint eastwood marathon last night at work.

I do have a couple questions on heavy tech.
the rules say cam must be correct solid in solid - hyd. where a hyd. should be. no trick racing lifters or shimmed limited travel lifters allowed.
How will these be checked in heavy tech? will one be removed weighed and taken apart ? or will it just be a plunge test (compressed) I'm sure most of us would be honest and just tell you its stock.

Spring pressure now 130 What constitutes allowable factory documentation and will it be enforced ?

Since the invention of all this undercover porting , will they be CCing intake and exhaust runners if the head is off ?

As for any piston dome configuration, that is the dumbest thing i ever heard. I see BIIIGGGG advatages to custom dome configurations. And I see that people are going to do it ... but oh well.

I have a question for Bob/Dan. What exactly is done in "Heavy Tech" ? If we all know this then we can be prepared with tools, gaskets, fluids etc. Having to run into town for parts = no fun and wasted time that will cut down on running time.

    Hello Pure Stockers
First of all thanks for everyone's imput. We decide to do sort of a random check each year. We look at all the results from the race, e.t./mph, HP @ rear tire, weight w/driver, and weather the car is a small block, middle block or big block. But we also take into consideration feedback we get from other racers and spectators. As Tim suggested by doing this format it keeps everyone on their toes. You never know if your the one to be called in next. Heavy Tech. could be as in depth as a P&G Check, Compression Check, Valve Train, Fuel system, Casting #'s Suspension and Undercarraige, etc, etc, etc,. Each car is going to be handled on a individual basis. Now we are leaving it up to our Heavy Tech. Inspector how in depth he wants to go with each car. (Example) If your a small block car clicking off some low 14's @97.00mph your Heavy Tech. might be less in depth then lets say if you were clicking off some 13.00's @ 109.00 mph. But if the Tech. Inspector feels he would like to take a look at something internal, you might be asked to remove your Valve Covers, Carb & Intake, Cylinder Head, Oil Pans / Engine & Trans.. Now the later is to the very extreme as far as Heavy Tech. goes but you could be asked. Now remember Pure Stockers, this is something new we are trying to implement into our race and we are going to make our fair share of mistakes until we get a handle on it. So please be patient with us and lets see how it goes in Sept.

OK Bob,Dish it up. WHO is this masked inspecter??:eek2:

I hope nobody finds out WHO the inspector is until the race. Really, just think of it being someone knowledgable that will find out if it's not right. Read the rules and stick to them, and I think it will be a better race! Lets make it right!

Keep the inspector a secret until the Thursday before the race.
If not, there will probably be somebody trying to grease his palm.... or something else

Grease his palm? Really? I must not take this serious enough. It really does not matter who it is anyways.Hopefully we can get some racing in,and it wont be two days of tech.

If your legal it doesn`t matter who the tech guy is..:Do No: Using high end gaskets a good tear down could cost the owner $300+ with fluids, very easy.:dollar: Not to mention these maxed out cars may be using non-standard gaskets to archive compression, intake seal, etc.. The owner will certainly need advance notice before such a tear down to acquire these gaskets in time for the race. I love the whole idea and the PSMCDR knows where a few of the faster cars are cheating, interesting these cars were not called up, yet anyway..

You could double the price of admission and still have a lineup all the way to town fightin' to get in to see that show.

Transmissions are an interesting topic..... I've been searching around and find that 904 guts will fit in a 727 tranny. Pro Trans charges about $4000 for one of those conversions, but S.W.A.T. :moonu: Another thing about using 904/999 internals is that you can get a 2.74 first gear instead of the original 2.45 first. Plus, the 904 converter weighs less and the whole deal takes about 20 less horsepower to run. Most discussion sites seem to quote a 2 tenths advantage for this conversion. Since I'm not a Mopar guru, how will we be able to tech to see if this modification has been done? One more thing, 904 variations were NEVER behind big block Mopars. So, wouldn't 904 internals in a 727 case be considered a lightweight conversion?:Do No: :Do No: :Do No:

Thank you Terry, this is exactly why we need to lead the way teching these transmissions at our race, this June. The transmission above-mentioned is clearly illegal and anybody running one should automatically be booted into the FAST class. I don't even have one of those bad boys in my Road Runner. Plus if we hit the transmissions hard at our race the PSMCDR can focus their tech in other places. I'd like to build a Pure Stocker and it will be a whole he/l of a lot cheaper to build a stock transmission than one all tricked up like some guy's, if the transmissions are not teched, how could I compete without doing the same thing as the rest of the guy's.
