Looks like a few new players in there....I have to know, what did the Ford XL run? And that black 71 GTX is beautiful! When the spreadsheet is ready please ask someone to post it here.

I know he ran a 14.8 on Friday.
A lot of people picked up a little Saturday morning, not sure if the big Ford did.

That 429 Thunderjet has a lot of potential.

It is a 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus with a 400. I recall seeing it run low 14's. It is a very nice car.

It's not the guys at the top that make the series fascinating, it's cars like that. The Studes, the Stage 1 Centurians, Grand Prixs and that Laguna from a couple years back. A quick 440-6 doesnt surprise me, but a quick 429 shows that guy knows how to tune. I bow to the awesomeness of the XL, next year, (maybe the year after) thats the guy I want to get paired with!

Cant wait to see the video (hopefully they shot videa as good as last year's) and see what gear he's running.

Thats impressive, I'm running similar numbers on 3.23's with 3900 lbs . To me, thats the kind of guy you can learn something from.

The Satellite ran some 13.80's on 87 Octane. 24,000 mile original car. Very-verynice,neat car.

Thanks for the pictures, thanks to Dan & Bob for an awesome event. Was painful to only spectate, but we made it.
Early morning Friday the wife said she would be fine watching....by noon she said,"This Sucks", I want my car.
Sorry we didn't have a car there, but it was simply economic reasons that kept the car at home.
    It won't happen again.

Was great seeing everyone. This isn't just a race, it's a family reunion. It was a chance to give condolences face to face with fellow family members(racers) who have suffered loss since last year,as well as a place to get updated on health issues that some of our fellow racers have going on.
So to John and Paul Glasgo, it was great to see you guy's both racing and having a good time, I'm sure Tom enjoyed watching you play.
Also great to see Dave H out playing with the car that he got married in, sorry for the loss of your wife Dave.

Lastly, we need to keep Dave Dudek in our prayers
and Mike Hurd in our prayers as they battle illness.

Great pictures JJ - I have done a copy-and-save of mine.
I was in the 69' GP that ran the big 70' Ford Galaxy XL.
About the race - I choked! I missed the 2-3 shift and couldn't run the big Ford down in round 1.
Round 2 I lost due to reaction time. The owner of the Ford (Tommy O'Malley from Staten Island, NY - complete with NY accent) really had the car tuned well - but he wanted to give me the 2nd round. I did win round 3.
The Ford, minus the A/C compressor, weighed 4410 lbs. The suprising thing to me was my GP, with some junk in the back seat, a full tank, spare and jack, weighed 4290 with my fat butt in it! The Ford had a nice free-flowing exhaust; my car had among the most quiet exhaust in the field - and that's one item I haven't touched yet.

My dad worked for a few Ford and Lincoln dealers in the early to mid-70s; early 429s were known for eating valve guides.
The 429 I ran against was a 120K mile un-opened mil - and it sure did run great! That 70' was also the last year for a Galaxy XL, although his car had a bench seat, not the buckets that XLs came with in previous years. All in all its a really neat and rare car - sort of like mine!

Just so all know that the driver was at fault, I hit 14.50 for a best ET and as high as 97 MPH at Stanton. I did cut some good lights in practice - including my first .001 light. A stick shift seemed to make cutting a good light easier. It sure was fun!
