will a 350 chevy engine fit a buick ???? if i droped a chevy engine in my skylark would it run or would i have to modify it?
Its more work than it's worth....you have to get a news transmission, frame pads, rewire a bunch of stuff and then still only have a Chevy......... stick with a Buick engine..... much easier and you can make it run as good as the Chevy. Mike
you could just buy a chevyou: . lots of em available, cheap parts, and everybody has one. and when you get tired of being like eveybody else, come on back to buick and see the difference. buicks are more of a pain in the a$$ in the short term but definitely worth the trouble for the qualitys of the car! imho:TU:
What's wrong with putting a Ford in a Chevy ? Besides the fact you still have @@##!!!!!!!!!ou: :TU: :TU:
My Buick 350 has about 280,000 miles on her. She is past her prime, but she still passes 90% of the cars on the road. Including the new ones. Never heard of a Chevy doing that.
:blast: :blast: :blast: Chebbbbby Don't do it manngg!! There are lots of Buick 350's floating around...find one....better than killing a buick:grin: :TU:
Everybody drives a chevy. Novas, chevelles, camaros.etc. Don't get me wrong. I like them all. Nothing finer than late 60's early 70's muscle cars. But not everyone drives a Buick. :Brow:
AND WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU SMOKIN!!!:eek2: You come to a BUICK website and ask how it would be to put a chevy engine in it?????? ARE YA STONED!!!???? ou:
ya, you could go faster, cheaper with a chevy. But you did not just ask that?!?!? no... no you didn't.... no, just no.... If you're gonna bother with a motor swap, go with a buick 455. It will be easier and provide big block power. The buick 455 is one of the best big blocks made, and it can be argued to be the best of all.
the reason i want to put a chevy engine in it is because i can find long blocks that are new . i dont want to spend my time putting in an old buick motor in mine to have it blow in a year or less. not worth it. i cant find any new buick moors so what other options do i have.
maybe you need to consider what you are planning to do with the car. daily driver, race only, or something in between. you also are not telling where you are and how available the correct parts are to you, your mechanical skills, or your experience with buicks vs other cars [like chevy]. i know around here you can get a sbc short block and fill it very cheaply. but you end up starting all over again in a year or so if you race it even just on the weekends, just as you would a buick engine. remember buick engines are made of harder stuff than chevy engines, will last longer, and hold up to the pounding of "gettin on it" longer than a chevy will. so you may be coming out ahead getting a low milage 455 over even a brand new chevy engine. plus you can open the hood and smile with pride at having a brand loyal car that kicks ass! unless you hang out with a bunch of people who wouldn't know a buick engine from a hamster.
I do beleive you can get a rebuilt 455(or 350) from places like TA performance. They will already be rebuilt with some performance parts. Andwith car engines, rebuilt properly they are just as good as new.
Aparently the 11 second Race engines built on used Buick 350's aren't good enough. Nor are the 8 second 455s.
for sale..perfect for you muscle Muscle4life......this is for you I have a 1970 chevelle with a buick motor...FOR SALE runs 11.9's all day long.....$9,600 complete....without motor....$2,900 :Brow:.....we just play n with ya....its your car your motor....do as you like....best thing --->keep it all Buick
Give Muscle4life a break. Could be the chevy engine is all he can afford. I'd settle for an engine I could afford rather than dream of an engine, and be walking. Get driving, then contact this board when its Buick engine time!
Is it really cheaper? I know it's more expensive to build a Buick motor, but it bolts right in. How many mods does it take to slap a Chebby engine in? Does it eventually equal the amount you would spend on a Buick engine? uzzled:
I was thinking cheaper in the sense that maybe he's allready got a good chebby laying around, or knows someone that does.
Go to google and search buick crate engine. Web site is Buick auto parts online. I think they short blocks. Not a long block, but its a start.
