Sorry I couldn't post earlier and save you some pain.

I asked this very same question a few months back (big oops!). After all the smoke cleared away, someone offered me a Buick 350 for $50. I'm still in the process of dropping it in the car but the fact is...I couldn't have done it without the help of a few VERY RELIABLE individuals on this site. And, so far, it is a simple bolt-in swap. I'm on a very tight budget and I'm not sweating it yet.

:Smarty: Stick with the Buick motor. You'll be glad you did.:pp I am.

Me calling the local junkyard a few months ago.

"Hi, I need a pre 1972 Buick 350 for my Skylark. I'd like it to be good running, or at least good running when it was pulled"

"We have two of those, which are between 350 and 450 dollars."

"Just out of curiosity, what about the Chevy 350?"

"Oh, we've got a ton of those, right around 600 dollars for a good one"

... the conversation went on to me asking why the more popular chevy was more expensive, he said because he couldn't get rid of the Buick engines, but the Chevys sold like hot-cakes.

Basically, I'm just saying what everyone else has. Stay here, you can find a good running 350 for dirt cheap, and it will bolt right in.

A lot less hassle and possibly less money than having to fight with engine mounts, and a new transmission or transmission adapter.

I agree with Eric, there's a ton of guys on this board who have gone from 350s to455s so what has happened to the original engines?? I'd think there would be people trying to sell him a good engine here. I gave mine to a guy who bought a Skylark with a Chevy engine in it, it was only a 2bbl motor. So come on someone offer this guy a deal on a good 350.

I have a 70 GS 350 engine complete with 89K on it for miles. Ran excellent and I would sell it for $350 I am in kansas and will be traveling to Pueblo Colo soon and to Oklahoma soon if that would help.
