Im looking for the 4 speed boot retaining ring that screws to the floor. Any condition will do. Thanks! Jason
Jason To my belief Duane was considering making a few one more time. Other than that they are chicken lips.
Hi Jim...Original parts group lists a retaining ring for a 67 GS w/o console. I take it that there is some difference that would not allow it to fit properly? Anyone try to fit the OPG ring in a 70-72? Jason
Jason I thought 67 had a non Hurst shifter and a different tranny. I do not think it is the same part number.
The picture they list in the catalog looks damn close. I PM'ed Duane. Im hoping he takes pity on me and puts me on the list. Jason
Personally, I think someone should buy one of those 67 OPG retainer rings and see if they are the same as the 70-72 buick pieces. I have always wondered if buick kept using the 64-67 hump for the 68-72 cars. They sold so few, so why would they change it. If they fit it sure would save me a lot of time making them. Duane
Im willing to be the guinea pig on this one. I'll call OPG and put one on order. Ive wasted 20.00 bucks on worse things. Jason
Fior the record, I ordered the retaining ring OPG lists for the 67 4 speed cars. Got it on sale for 16.95! I guess we'll find out if its the same in 7-10 days. Stay tuned...... Jason
Duane and Jim...I received the 67 4 speed retaining ring and it is in fact different. It seems to share the same upper contour of the floor hump but it doesnt reach to the bottom of the hump. Im other words, the hole in the ring is a bit too small in its width. I would need to cut it in half lengthwise to use it. It was worth a shot. Jason
Hate to hear that. Just for gigs did you check with www.thepartsplaceinc.com ? He is making more and more stuff.
Would a traced outline of one on paper be of assistance? or If Duane decides to take it on again I will send him a loner. I only have the one which is off while we have the GSX under resto.
All right, I will make up another batch. I hate to hear you guys cry, it's demeaning. Jim, if you can send your original, I will use it as the master. (I have not picked up the one my friend has yet.) I have a few parts already promised ahead of this, namely 2 inner fenders and 1 core support. After these are done I will start making them as fast as I can, and as they are done will ship them out. The cost is $45.00 for the part with shipping included. (They take 3-4 hours to do, so no bitching about the cost, they are a gift at this price.) So far I remember having 3 on order, one each for Dan Richter, Mark Reeves, and Jason here. (I can make up to 8 pieces only, I think that's all the material I have left, but will check this.) Now, you ever hear "Last Call for Alcohol", well this is it, so if you want one you better let me know now. If someone asks later it would require making up a die for cutting/stamping out the part, and that will be expensive. Duane
Jason, PM me your info, along with a phone number, and times I can reach you. I will not take any money until I get the original to copy, and am close to shipping the parts. Duane
