...I had breakfast with a friend the other day who has built plenty of race motors,...and he told me the that a non rope rear main seal from a 460 Ford motor works in a 455 Olds... ...He suggested that the same may hold true for a 455 Buick???... ...Has anyone ever heard of this???,...or tried this???...
It is discussed on the Board in the past posts but there is a new design for the seal out that is even better per JW. Here is the information you need about the BOP seal that is better than the 500 Caddy and the Ford 460. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?255594-BAd-rear-main-seale-leak&highlight=460+ford+rear+seal http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?247474-Rear-main-seal-for-455&highlight=BOP+rear+seal+460
The Ford 460 seal fits the Buick 350. I have used it in several engines. National #5116 fits the Buick big block. I've used this one in several engines.
Any certain year on the 460 for the 350 and the national 5116 for the 455 is that a part number for all brands?
Any year on the Ford 460 should work as long as it's the neoprene seal. The one I have used is the Fel-Pro seal.
