It Mustang #212 Its technically the first production Mustang. There were Mustangs made prior to this car, but they were pre-production hand built in a warehouse. With that being said, the price does seem a bit absurd even if it is the first assembly line Mustang
A mustang worth $5,500,000 would have to be made of gold and come with Shania Twain as my personal seat cover!
You'd think for $5.5 mill they'd at least get the finishes right under the hood. Looks like a cheap one color aerosol overhaul.
I always thought this was the first mustang... http://www.nzmustang.com/History/1stmustang.htm Ford wanted it back after he bought it.. and he would not sell it.. then in 67 they offered him the 1000001th mustang and he accepted. You can read the full details there Or quoted from here....http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2004/04/23/191319.html "The first regular production Mustang was a Wimbledon White convertible with a 260-cid V-8 that rolled off the assembly line on March 9, 1964. While on a promotional tour of Canada, a Ford dealer in St. Johns, Newfoundland "mistakenly" sold the car to Capt. Stanley Tucker, a pilot with Eastern Provincial Airlines. Ford reacquired the car from Capt. Tucker in 1966 in exchange for Mustang number 1,000,001, and the original car is now on display at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Mich."
For 5.5 mill, you shouldn't see "believed to be" anywhere in the auction. It better damn well "BE". Imagine that, 5.5 mil for a falcon with a horse emblem. uzzled:
I don't think it is... Why would Ford do anything in their power to get this one other one back that was the first one sold accidentally to the public- http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...23/191319.html And its still on display in Detroit I believe - in its non restored condition just as the pilot who bought it gave it back to them in return for the 100001th mustang. Ford offered to put any option he wanted in the 100001th mustang- even a TV I think if this 212 one was of any significance, ford would want it back.
Maybe he's hoping Ford will see the auction and cough up the dough, knowing full well 99/9% of the average public are like uzzled: at the price tag.
Yes but if you account for inflation, the 6 million dollar man would cost $28,766,492.60 in today's money.
i cant see how ONE mustang could be worth more than ALL the other mustangs ever made added together.:bla: ...... times ten:eek2: .........and squared:Smarty: .
That puts an average price of $234.52 per mustang for a $5,500,000 total. Sounds about right, if they fill the gas tanks first.
