CARS in New Jersey sells the rubber boot for the consolette. Its made by Metro Rubber products. Typical of some other Buick reproduction parts, its a mediocre part and one that we have to "settle" for. Its made too thick so the retaining rings dont fit properly. The finish is a smooth gloss black- which is wrong. And lastly, the area where the chrome shifter comes out of is shaped completely wrong. But...its better than a ripped one or none at all IMO. CARS gets 44.00 for it. Hold your nose and buy one.

Thanks for the information guys, I have all the service manuals on my 71 GS and will look tomorrow at the 4 speed hump thing. I didn't think I needed the hump and after seeing the picture, it reinforced my thought process. In hearing about the rubber boot {I purchased at Metro Rubber}, I'll double check and see if the shifter hole is rectangular to fit the shifter. It's glossy and obviously won't be correct, but I have no other recourse. I also purchased a ring to secure the boot to the floor that was hand made by a fellow Buick guy that should do the trick.

I was kind of freaked out by this considering they just painted the underside of my car as part of the frame off restoration and fit the body to the frame. whewww...

    :eek2:

a cheap hammer and dolly(Harbor Freight) and you can easily recreate the "rolled edge" so it looks like the Skylark piece.
