I gonna add this picture into the mix, these wheels are off my Dad's 67 GS 400 Convertible, Factory Disc brake car, car is Ivory white, (original paint) unmolested original car! he's owned it since 1984, the guy we got it from bought it in the early 70's. notice the original spare is body color, and the 4 other were painted black! dealer done would be my guess! as the car has a flat black finish on the rocker panels/lower quarters!

I am with you guys (Gary & Gary?)... I have not seen any factory documentation stating the wheels were all argent. Your examples of the painted '67 wheels are more proof, besides the '68 painted set that I have, that some of the wheels came from the factory body color.

I am not sure how anyone without documentation stating otherwise can say that the wheels were all painted argent from the factory.

Thanks for posting the photos :TU:

Gary, Gary and Mike and others,
You can add me in that group that isn't convinced of argent only disc brake wheels for the 67 & 68 A bodies. Back in the mid 70's I talked to an elderly couple that owned a red 67 Skylark. It had the front disc option and had the body colored wheels. They bought the car new and had not changed a thing on it since. I have a photo of a 68 GS400 with the side stripes and the body colored wheels also. Very little if anything is set in stone when it comes to cars.

Has anyone aver seen what appeared to be a factory original disc brake car that DID have argent silver wheels?

I know of an all original "survivor car" red 67 GS400 with red ralleys, and also a "survivor car" blue 68 GS400 with blue ralleys. All body matched in color, not a poor-boy job and what I would believe to be factory painted.

No, unless it was a chevy

I think the experts that say that these wheels only came in Argent better put up or shut up with some documentation because there is quite a bit of info here to convince me even more that the wheels were painted body color.

    Argent wheels

The 67 GS 400 I bought in 1971 had disc brakes and the wheels were argent. The car was a white 4 speed with a black vinyl roof. My friend still has it, and the wheels, though he uses 15" ralleys on it. Rich
