So your initial is timing is 20, or is that initial + mechanical swing

John if you can find out if 67 is the same as 69 I have a body and chassis manual for the Riv and can send you any schematics that you need.

I have my chassis manual too, there’s no section on power windows though, for some reason

I’d be grateful to see your section on power windows, cause mine is seemingly non existent

It should be with the wiring diagrams I would think? What's happening or not happening with your windows? Is it isolated to one side or back /front??

So 20 cranking, any swing or mechanical advance to go with the additional 8-10 from the vacuum?

Msd makes 2 add on cranking retards
    Part number 8984 or 8987

    8984 pulls either 10 or 20 degrees
8987 pulls 5,10,15, or 20 plus gives you a step retard that could be used for nitrous or triggered as a top end retard.

For only a few bucks more this unit makes more sense

    Hi Larry,

I just got my starter and the bolt holes in the plate are tapered.
So, I got the stepped knurled bolts and they fit with no play. (I was unable to find the original bolts with this engine, it was disassembled and all the hardware was in a large coffee container).
I will still check the lash and pinion clearances when I install it.

    :)

When mine disconnected itself from the track I took the door panel off and looked around at how everything was operating as I moved the switches and that's when I noticed one of the flat disc washer/nut had backed off and fallen to the bottom of the door. I put it all back together and all is well again!

You’d be unsurprised to know, that of course I can’t use the switches, cause the damn starter is in half outside of the car. No power to the whole car

Nothing against you, I thought it would be an issue and was correct. But I was still angry at myself for having to try it to confirm it.

As long as it works Mike. I have had the Robb Mc starter for about 3-4 years now. My bolts are the stock starter bolts. It mentions that right on Robb's page. (at the very bottom)

What is your mechanical advance? I seem to think the 430 distributors have 20° of mechanical advance. If you're 40° all in, you can take probably 5-8° out and pick up some..

Oh wait hold on, I’m an idiot.
I was quoting my earlier stats. I have 16* initial advance and 14* of mechanical.
For a total of 30* of timing, without vacuum advance.
