I also pull 2800-3000 rpm on the highway, going about 75 the whole way.

Unless it's 95 deg out shouldn't go more than 3/8 IME.

It was around 75 degrees. Maybe my radiator is a bit clogged. Or the water pump is inefficient due to scoring in the timing cover pocket.

That's why. It doesn't have enough capacity to remove enough heat.

Only solution is a new radiator? I did flush it and blow it all out this past winter

Yeah, my 4 row 93 Suburban original radiator was clogged beyond belief. Maybe 1/3 of it flowing. Weighed a TON from all the deposits. Put an aluminum radiator in and runs thermostat temp or slightly above all the time.

Any radiator that matches that Riviera radiator pattern that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg?

How cool does that keep your engine?

    What is the tube size?

I can tell you it's way better than the old original that I pulled out, BUT, I have other issues that makes my Riv run a bit hotter than I think it should. I have a 180 Tstat and I normally run between 185-195 and she'll spike up to 200 the odd time in traffic on hot days. My heater core is bypassed due to a leak so there's hot coolant constantly circulating through the intake which is where my temp sensor is located so I think I'm not getting a full accurate reading. Also I don't think the heat crossovers were plugged on this engine which will also contribute to intake heat which could possibly make the gauge read higher than what the coolant actually is.

Tube size is 1" or 1 1/4" but no less. I made sure of that! Larry, when you were helping me with my overheating issues when I first got the car you told me 1" minimum :)

John, if you go the champion radiator route make sure you order the AE161 model, that's the 2 row 1" tube that you need. See the link and specs sheet pic below. Its the same one I have. I also have dual 14" electric fans which is recommended for this size of rad but if drop this in and your mechanical fan gets the job done leave it alone.
