I would like to replace my half broken handle(chrome part).

If it is only half broken, one side, repair it. Have done two and work well, and seem to hold up, have one in service 8 years.

Is it the top plastic chrome piece ? If so OPG had them reproduced.

No it is the pot metal Chrome that you select the gears(or slam them) with.

Randy would be interested in the shifter if available, the one on the right in the picture if not broken?
    Thanks

It may not be good enough for you. Take a look at these images. This is actually the first time I have studied the handle and it has obviously been repaired at some point in time. I would not feel right selling this to anyone, but if you must have it, you can have it for the cost of shipping from Canada.

    Cheers

    Hi Randy:
Thanks for the pictures! Yes the shifter is in poor condition. Broken in the typical places, is the repair JB weld or some sort of solder? I tried everything to repair mine and nothing seemed to work. I ended up buying a 1970 shifter from GS Fred. But would like to find a replacement. Must have been a lot of power shifting back in 68 and 69 lol

I am not sure how it was fixed, but I will junk it. Would not want anyone to be using and have it break at a critical moment. Good luck in your search.

    Cheers

Actually .. most of these broke because of either leaning on them or jumping from one seat to another.

Randy - if Rikergs400 is going to pass, I'll take you up on your offer. I have something up my sleeve .. and I didn't want to try it with a good one.

I am not sure of the correct protocol at the moment. Prior to your posting I was contacted by way of a "conversation" via v8Buick of someone who may want it, depending on the postage costs.

So I honestly do not know where the correct priority lies at the moment.

    Cheers

    Hi Randy:
I think in the past 69GS400 has asked for pictures of these shifter to see if someone might be able to reproduce, if it was not 69GS400 I apologies. But any ways 69GS400 can have it and hopefully can come up with a solution that is way overdue.
I tried everything to fix plates, epoxy, and of course a torch and it melted...Darn pot metal.....
    Thanks!

The best thing I have found to fix these shifter with is to use steel plate on the outside and small screws and bolt/nut. I have fixed 2 with good results and using both in 68/9 cars for several years.

That repair was the way mine was until it broke where the bolts went thru.
It's funny you can find almost all GM auto shifters except 68 and 69 Buick's, I think what makes it weak is that angled off set at the base? All other GM shifters are straight.
Even found a Shifter on Ebay for a 69 Riviera looks just like the one for our 68/69's but the base is straight.
