68 console shifter handle

Would to see a picture of a shifter that you fixed. I’m about to do the same thing to a shifter I just purchased. Any pointers would welcome?

 

I thought I had some pictures, but cannot find them. I need to change the black bake-lite handle on one of my cars, and if you are not in a big hurry I will try to get it off and post some pictures of the repair. I looked in my 68/9 shifter box of parts to see if I had anything left from the two repairs I did, but nothing left.

That is how I did mine, but I ran the plate up another inch to prevent future braking and used some small bolt/nut along with the screws.
