Oh my! :Do No: That just proves that the good(friggin great?)deals are still out there.

I bought an unfinished project from a guy many years ago and I got more :dollar: 's in brand new parts in boxes than I paid for the whole deal.

Unfinished project scores would make a great read thread on here.

This makes #13 of GS's I've bought for under $1,000, but the first Big Block/455 car I've owned!:Do No:

This is #13 of GS's that I've already owned, so I've already been through the Skylark GSX Stage II lookalike cars, more than just a few times; now it's time for something completely different, but done tastefully, as you will recognize the car when you see it, it just won't be whose you think it is!:Brow:

If you would, add this car to the Factory Stage 1 Registry. Marc Conigliari is on this board and the BPG board. He's got the website for the registry.

I was planning on it, just not until I get some better pictures, at least when I put the front end together (fenders/hood, etc.).:bglasses:

You don't need pics to register just send the info and your identity is kept secret. Marc only publishes the numbers and they do not trace back to you. Get the Sloan or Wayne Roberts info too. This has got to be the BEST BUY I have seen here in ages congrats!:TU: When I am ready to find a Stage 1, I want you to find it for me. You or that Ostrich fellow Jason something:)

Thanks for the info, I'll be glad to get right on to the registration!:beers2:

If only "finding" these cars were really that easy, not like it used to be, as many of these cars are turning into parts cars for money, or just being junked for money; it's always about money...:(

I had actually given up hope to own ANY MORE GS's, ever again, since I sold my '72 GS350 here for only $1,500, just to get rid of it, as I was discouraged & disinterested in Buicks, temporarily.

Unexpectedly, and soon after I'd just sold my '72 GS350, and gave away (yes, for $0/nothing in return!:eek2: ) 2 of my other '70 GS350's to total strangers (not just anyone, but who already owned/appreciated other '70-'72 Skylarks) that I spontaneously met in a store parking lot, I ended up buying my current house, with more garage space than I'll ever use, but without having as many of my GS's left to restore/work on, I was actually considering to start collecting '68/'69 Firebirds, but then was led to the Stage 1, which rekindled my passion for the Buicks again.

Ironically, the same owner that I bought the '72 GS350 from, also had the '70 Stage 1, which I also ended up buying, indirectly (as he sold it to the previous owner, who only kept it for 1 year, until he decided he had no interest in it, and then sold it to me, as he saw that I had all the parts to actually do something with it, to make it driveable again!)

Technically, I am the 4th owner of this Stage 1.:Smarty:

Congratulations on the score, that's a really great deal.

Take a look at the Stage 1 Registry, paint code (68) Burnished Brown, was a very popular color for the GS in 1970 (looks really nice fresh).

Unfortunately no color looks worse than brown when it's old, faded, and dry

No worries about the faded Brown, after it gets it's new Bright Pearl White paintjob!:kodak:

Brown interior has to go, too!:Smarty:
Same parts, just new material/new colors!:Brow:

I know you mentioned you're not selling much at this point but I am looking for some extra Brown interior parts for my stock appearing GS Drag car. Mainly the bucket seat plastic, headrests and a NON A/C dash pad. (The Bucket Seat "Plastic Pcs" are what I really want for now)

So with that said, please keep me in mind IF you do decide to "clean out the garage"

    Thanks,

    Todd

"You or that Ostrich fellow Jason something"

So it was decided that it is an Ostrich? And not an Emu?
    I must have missed that.

just curious if there is a SS stamp on that block. i see a one piece dip stick (no tube) and the bracket to hold the power brake booster tube also look like its the one for a big buick

As soon as it's warm enough to go back out in the garage, I'll be disassembling the engine, and using the same combo (288-98H) in that engine, so I'll be able to look for the SS block code, at that time!

For what I paid for the whole car, and all the extra parts, I wasn't even concerned whether it's all original or not.
(Are you referring to the engine IN the car, which is a '76 block that came with it... or the engine ON THE STAND, with the chrome valve covers, which is supposedly the original Stage 1 engine that came out of the car, because of a spun bearing...?)

That would just make it that much easier for me to not feel as guilty about customizing a true numbers matching car, as I still plan to, anyway, regardless!:idea2::laugh:

    Todd,
You're not the 1st to ask, but I've never even considered selling any of the parts that I've collected, in 25 years, and don't really plan to start anytime soon, that I'm expecting.

As long as I don't sell parts, I always have plenty to reuse those parts for my own cars, first, even for the cars that I haven't bought, yet, but most likely will, as often as they seem to find ME.:TU::Do No:

For example: If I already have a Brown Dash Pad, but I need a BLACK Dash Pad for any of my other GS's, before I'd ever even think of PAYING "$100" for a used Black Dash Pad from someone else, I'd go spend $5 for a can of Black Vinyl Dye, and redo a few that I already have laying around!

    However, IF you don't find the pieces that you're looking for, before I can find someone else who might already have them for you;
I'm always glad to keep an eye out for parts that I don't need, that someone else can use, as yourself!:beer

I'm not a hoarder; I just don't like to get rid of things that I already have, in case I'd have to replace them, but I also can't pass up a deal to find more of the same things, either, whether I already have them/need them, or not!

Update: Just ordered (AMD) Roof skin, both (AMD) 1/4 panels, (AMD) Rear Deck Filler Panel, and 9pc trunk floor kit (including lower 1/4 end pieces) from Tamraz's, and just got an estimate for frame-off/bodywork/custom paint, as the car will now begin it's journey to get back on the road as soon as possible!

While the car's gone to the bodyshop, I'll be focusing on modifying/rebuilding the Stage 1 engine, and haven't decided if I'll rebuild the TH400, or put in a 200/4R for whatever gas mileage I can get, as it gets up around $4/gallon, again.

I didn't expect everything to come together so quickly, but it just kind of worked out that way, so I'm really excited to get things together for it, now!:beers2:
