I have the vaccuum diagram, but it appears the previous owner sprayed over two. What would the other one be??

    Thanks!

Sounds like he sprayed over the emissions decal. This gives you the factory rpm settings, timing and dwell ect...

The second might have been directions to set up the idle solenoid. Available factory on the later built cars or from the dealer as a kit to change from dashpot to the solenoid.
These directions replace "step 4" with another 3-4 steps in between. Once complete go to step 5.

    Yep,
Which means you probably purchased an early emissions decal and not the correct later version.

Just to jump in here as I recently added the idle solenoid kit and have an old NOS sticker - does anyone here on the board make new stickers for the seperate idle solenoid? My sticker is a little yellowed from age and I would like to get a repro one if they are available.

If it is for an automatic I may have a few left. (3&4-speeds were different)

I had to make one for my 71 GSX, but that was years ago and they may also be a little bit yellowed by now.

    >>Hi Duane,

Yes, mine is for an automatic as well. If you have one I'll buy it from you - just let me know.

After about an hour of scrubbing I beleive I found the original tune up sticker and the mystery, painted over, sticker. The Adjustment Procedure Idle Control Solenoid.

Can anyone tell if this is the original???

Based on comments abobe I think my three hours of gentle scrubbing has removed several layers of old paint and uncovered the original stickers!!

May I say I'm quite excited!!!

Take a look at the latest pic. Would you agree???

    Thanks!

    That's the babies,
I had to make both stickers for my old 71 350 GSX. The originals I had on the car were legible, but that's all you could say about them.

    Chris,
If you send a self addressed stamped envelope I will send you one. Make sure you put a note inside letting me know what you want. Or I could hand it to you at the BPG Nats.

    >>Hi Duane,

Thank you very much for your offer on the sticker - I'll send you a self addressed envelope with a note. :TU: Wish I could get to the BPG Nats - too much going on at home with the baby and getting ready for construction on the new house.

Thanks Chris!!! I was quite bummed there was no build sheet under the old carpet last summer when I replaced it. This will have to be a close second!

    >>My car was built at Framingham so I found two "half" build sheets - one under the front seat and one under the back. I heard that most cars have a build sheet on top of the gas tank - have not pulled my tank yet though to check. You could also check inside the A-arm pillers and under the dash sometimes.

Had the entire dash apart and nothing there. Pillers... I'll check!

    Thanks!

    >>If you don't find anything in the pillars, and your trunk pan wasn't rotted, you should definitely have a build sheet on top of your gas tank.

My build sheet was on top of the gas tank. Quite a surprise I must say...to find it sum 33 yrs down the road and in reasonable shape.
