This belongs to Marc LaRocque AKA: 72 gs conv ny here on the board. It's going to be a dosey. I will do my best to keep this updated every week, until finished. I FORGOT TO TAKE A PICTURE BEFORE I TOOK IT APART. ENGINE BAY DOESN'T LOOK TO BAD! HE DID THAT OVER HIMSELF ALONG WITH THE COMPLETE UNDERSIDE. i ONLY HAVE TO DO THE PAINT AND BODY WORK!
Marc, Pretty scarry when you see it in that condition? This is when all the hidden issues show. When Jarrod is done, it'll look better than new. Was that a Hunter Green car? Are you keeping it the same color?
Jarrod, Have you read this post? http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=179097 Somehow I think there might be a connection?
watch out for those wheels they are collector items lol. looks great jarrod. i think the wife is planning on going up to see her parents soon, so i'll come up then. anything i could bring?
That dent has been in that quarter panel a long time. By the way are we removing all the door moldings? Because I need to know if were grinding off the little studs.
Well just a few more pix's of what I have been up to in between everthing else going on. Put 80 grit on the DA and sanded the sheetmetal and then through some etch prime on the surface. Got the 4 door donor qtr panel out and drilled out the spot welds and cut it down to useable size. I'll let the pix's explain it now.
Butt weld 1/2" below the body line. Should be undetectable once ground and polished on both sides. MIG or TIG? How lucky that the wheel arches are solid. Saves a whole bunch of work. Looks good so far.:TU:
Yes Marc, it's Amazing what it con look like in just a few short days. Especially in my one man shop. Hard to believe I can get anyhting done the size I am. Well another quick update of what I managed to get done in between all the running around I did today. Not a big step forward but nonetheless a step. Put paint striper on the hood and fender, then cleaned her up with some gun cleaner and then sanded the parts with 80 on the DA. Well the weekends here, so your car is out the door for a few days and over in the other shop, so I can bring mine in. So no more updates until next week.
Wow! Just stumbled on this thread. Looking good! I remember 15 or so years ago towing this car from where you bought it, Marc, to the shop I used to work for to get it running for Don. When I picked it up using a Stinger wheel-lift tow truck, I remember trying to get it out of Don's driveway, loosing it off the truck and watching it roll across the street and into the ditch . Yep, Don was standing there watching the whole thing!
