OK, I heard enough about turn signals, Msd boxes, elec fuel pumps, lightweight transmissions....etc...etc. How bout a little show and tell boy's and girl's. For all the top ten cars at Stanton, that's right all of them or you don't race. Yea you heard me, it's time to put up or shut the $uck up just because a girl is handing you your $ss some of you are crying like little babies,:ball: :ball: :ball: and saying Pennington's cheating by doing this or that. It's all a bunch of horse$hit.:af: :af:
Let's get to the meat of this little show and tell session shall we.
The top ten cars show up on Wednesday at the track with your motor out, oil pan off and one head off, your trans pan off and also your interior out. Bring jack stands and everything else you need to put it all back. I'll bring the cherry picker engine stands and two vettes in one pile.
Some of you guy's talk like a bunch of little $itches. It's time to put up or shut up and prove that you're not cheating to try and catch a girl and her little orange Corvette.
One more thing, you look at all 3 L-88's Larry, Jimmy and Julie they all run about the same:Do No: :puzzled:

    Who are the top 10
    1) Pennington Julie L-88
    2) Weymouth Larry L-88
    3)
    4)
    5)
    6)
    7)
    8)
    9)
    10)

If your legal and playing by the rules prove it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've heard enough, fill in the blanks and let's get it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:TU: :TU: :TU:

Terry, would this inspection be open to other participants to view the pieces and parts, or would it strictly be for the top 10 cars and their crew?
Are you thinking that measurements be taken on deck height, cam lift, rocker ratio, etc.?

Ok, let's get real here, at Martin last year when they did the tech on any car that went into the 11's and found all sorts of illegal stuff, what happened? The answer is nothing! You will not get many takers that will show up with the motor out and half apart, get real. The answer is a real tech inspection by a real impartial tech inspector. We need to stop the obvious first, then dig deeper when the cars run way beyond what would be considered a reasonable eta.I agree with the previous post that the cheating is being done with the cars running in the 12's and 13's, trust me 3800 lb small blocks do not run 12.80's! :moonu: :moonu:

    Dave,
In my pits open to anyone who wants to see :kodak: within reason when it comes time to put 3 or 4 cars back together you want to make sure you have all the parts and enough room to get the job done.
Measurements anything you want just show up with you engine out one head off be ready to pull your engine oil pan that way we can knock at a piston and look at ring stack, pull your trans pan, also rip out your interior lets have a real show and tell.
Dave from the non response from the other top 10 cars :Do No: it must be easier to point at the other guy and cry TEACHER TEACHER!! he s cheating if you can't beat em or join em or I guess all you have left is to cry.
All I hear is let's return the pure stocks to grass roots in 2011, well Dan & Bob and all the other racers heres you chance to take it back make a rule that ALL the top 10 cars from 2010 MUST TAKE THIS TEST AND PASS IT WITH FLYING COLORS TO RACE IN 2011 no if ands or butts, Brian Stefina should be the head tech guy he's not afraid of anyone and tell you your 5hit is wrong.
I really don't understand I hear it all the time this guy doing this or he's that but NO ONE has step up and it's been weeks now.
I'm asking all the top 10 along with myself to prove your car is legal, talk is cheap.
Dan Bob the ball is in your court. Racers from the top 10 if you love this race like I know you do sign up so Dan & Bob don't have to be the bad guy's UNLESS YOUR CHEATING. :blast: I'LL be waiting. Oh yea HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your running an L88 Corvette, why in the world would you need to cheat? Its a factory racecar.

John Brown On permanant vacation !!

The Saturday at Stanton that Terry ripped Julies car apart for a show and tell, everything was out in the open for God and everybody to see and measure. A few people even came over with their own dial indicators so they knew that there weren't any bogus measuring sticks being used. Even cc'd the head and pulled the camshaft out and sent it home with Dan or Scott so they could run it on a cam checker. Sure, that was after the races and everyone was going home, but with a little scheduling, it could be done before the race too.

My advice to Dan and Bob would be... If you aren't willing to provide the proper tech inspection you need to have less rules, not more.

All this nonsence is just pulling apart a small group of people that has similar interests.

John my point exactly, the L-88 s has the most to offer in pure stock trim and they don't need to cheat, so let's tear apart the top 10 and just see who's cheating to catch who, and than see what cars are still on top, after the tech process I GUARANTEE YOU ONE THING THE L-88 s will not slow down at all, the question you have to ask yourself is will the other cars in the top 10?

Terry, what about the fuel regulator before the mechanical pump and the mystery plug wire going into the firewall that was noticed at the fall Martin race???? While I am at, why did your car show up the next day after last years Martin race when they did the heavy tech, when they noticed your stall convertor stalled to high, with a different tach? Be careful what you ask for, and you asked for it.

Not to just single out Terry, let's move on to the firebird. Where do we start with this one? I listened to it rev while in the trailer during the Saturday morning rain at this years psmcdr, one of the guys with us is an experienced racer who has raced and crewed on some big time Waterford cars and asked me if it had a 8 inch fly wheel on it , why I asked, stock cars do not rev like that was the response. Did this car not have excessive spring pressure at the heavy tech at last years Martin race?

Do you fast guys that run at the 11.50 number plan on adding a roll bar so that you will be legal for your own safety and that of the other racers.

I do agree with terry that the l88 is one of the best choices for pure stock, but since when is a ram air II firebird in the same league as the l88? One person has been real quiet in this discussion (not Terry) why don't you speak out Tiemann?

Jeff, before you start talking 5hit you better know the rules and what you're talking about!!!!!!!!!!!
The camaro has a fuel pressure regulator on it along with an $1500.00 electric pump in the trunk because it once was raced in F.A.S.T but if you would have look close enough you would have seen that the camaro has three fuel lines two 1/2 lines that we not used, and a steel 3/8 line that went right over the top of regulator, so the electric fuel pump in the trunk and the regulator was not used in the pure stock races.

Mystery wires huh is this how the rule reads.

Ignition System: The ignition system must be stock, including the distributor, cap, coil, and wires. Points may be replaced with any electronic conversion that fits under the stock distributor cap. Replacement coils are allowed as long as they are the correct shape, color, and size. Coils must be mounted in the correct location with correct brackets for the make, year, and engine combination. Spark plug wires must be of correct appearance in size and color for the vehicle. Ignition boxes allowed for ignition and rev. limiter purposes only. Ignition boxes must be hidden to maintain stock appearance under hood.

So up till 2011 you can have an ignition box if hidden right?

The converter one is the funny one of all I NEVER EVER NEVER was told that the stall speed was too high it's 2200 rpm that is an out and out lie, thats lower than the factory stall speed you guy's are crazy, you know what why don't you ask Dave Dudek I ask him at Martin in Oct to get in her car and test it and he did 2200 rpm, different tach different day where do you guy's come up with this 5hit.
Jeff do me a favor before you give me what I ask for make sure it's the truth not what you heard from some one else OK.

If the car is now a pure stocker, you ought to remove the FAST parts to eliminate any controversy.

  16. rdl

    rdl ...stocker 'n stocker

This is interesting. From a faction of the F.A.S.T. group...

In 2011 we are featuring an additional class for Pure Stock MuscleCars. Complete with rules and a first in Pure Stock, Mandatory Tech - Certification once any Pure Stocker runs a 12.49 E/T or quicker.

... nothing like outsiders taking the lead.

Did you need a 1500.00 dollar fuel pump to run tens in FAST ?

So..............Is this a voluntary class kinda like the "certified stock" program that was done at the PSMCDR, or is this mandatory once you go quicker than 12.49? Please clarify.

Either way, very interesting:TU: Maybe make it mandatory once the 11.99 sec boundary is crossed for sure.:Smarty:

Nevermind. I did my own research, and this has nothing to do with the F.A.S.T. series races, or the PSMCDR.

Still not a bad idea though.

Someone else had posted in a different thread that the top 20-25 cars would be put in a hat, and 10 of those would be subjected to a "heavy tech" to insure that the cars running the big numbers are within the rules. This also is a good idea that should be given some more thought.

I see where Terry is trying to go with this, but with any form of tech that involves "tearing a car apart", or bring a car to the race "torn apart", it just isn't in the realm of reality for most people. Not everyone has an enclosed trailer to keep an open engine out of the elements, etc.
Of course, if you put some heavy mandatory tech in place for cars once they reach, or pass a set performance barrier, it will be a "scare tactic" to keep people in line.
Nothing is going to change though. Lots and lots of talk with no action.
Until some of the powers that be quit playing "buddy system" with the rule enforcement, and quit giving people a FREE PASS when they are caught cheating "red handed".
Make somebody that is a "big name" the sacrificial lamb, and show people that you mean business when it comes to rules and cheating, then maybe we will see people rethink, or at least stop and think when they are building a car to be sure they follow the rules.
Until this happens, all this internet B.S. is a waste of time, just like current tech:Smarty:
