Has anyone ever seen a hood scope that looks right on a 65 Skylark?

72 Torino..I had one on a 65 25 years ago, i grafted it on. Its pointed in the front and matches the skylarks front...looks like it belongs there...i dont have pics...but it looks right...2 months later Torino scoops where on all the cars in my town.....even on Rambler Americans..lol

The teardrop bubble scoops were popular in the early-mid 60's (I think).

And butt-ugly. The old pro-stock style scoops always caught my eye on our beloved 'Larks.

I do like the look of that Torino scoop.

I grafted 70-72 GS scoops on my 64. I currently have 71 grills. I like the look and have gotten many positive comments.

That looks great. Did you also use the GS air cleaner?

Thanx for that photo. I was just trying to visualize what that graft might look like.

Is it for the red car in your avatar? If so, let see some more pics.

I like a cowl hood on a modified car!

No. I don't own that car anymore. I sold it to a guy from Youngstown in about 2004.

Currently I am Buickless, but I intend to right that wrong middle of next month with a new 65 Skylark.

looks or performance - functional ? awhile ago joe cuff gave me a '65 glass hood lead - www.glasstek.com . thats old info but may still be good . never checked it out . i did like the old ford super stock tear drop hood scoops but they were really used to expell hot air out of the rear and gain clearance for the front headlamp ram air systems that attached to the top of the carb . on a gm i don't know , kinda goes against the grain a little , and never , NEVER backwards . seen a couple of those , one on a corvette - bad . saw a nice 64 or 65 from N.J. at syracuse street machine nationals a long time ago , had a Z-28 style cowl induction scoop ( high pressure area at base of windshield ) , looked real nice i thought . until he opened the hood - sbc . low scoops , mid hood , almost no benefit . pro stock , up in da' air style - watch your state laws , may be 7" max , used to be anyway here . the old mopar pro stock style is nice and simple lookin . old 442 under hood , bumper mount , ram air was supposed to work decent and was sneaky . del

After a lot of looking around, I stumbled upon member GSGTX's 65 GS. He had a hoodscoop that looked like it was made for the car. He told me it was from a 79 Mustang. So, I "scooped" one off of Ebay. It was used in good general condition but will need to be striped and painted. Here it is sitting on my hood for a mock up.

Back in the day, the JC Whitney catalog was my 'wish book' for car mods...
I was considering either a W-30 Olds style scoop, or the '68 Shelby GT-500 Mustang style...both had the twin openings way up front.
'67 Shelby scoop would look nice too...

If you look closely at my avitar, my blue car doesn't have outside headlights...they're the air intakes.:bglasses:

That is a good looking scoop. It does not say the dimensions though. A lot of the Shelby scoops are very small. I would think they would look lost on our big hoods.
