500hp from a naturally aspirated 327, and the whole car is only being sold for $1800? I better get my check book out because this is UNBELIEVABLE. Haha! And the interior looks far from redone. Crazy people on craigslist...
I like the mailbox numbers under the hood that call out the engine as a 327. He's gonna need all his 600 pounds of tork and his 455 radius gears to get it out of the sinkhole the truck is in
I'm pretty sure AMC/Jeep didn't have a 327. In 68 AMC was 290/304/343/390 and 401 all were the same block. I am not sure if Jeep was affiliated with AMC back in the late 60's
Another typical Craigslist ad. Why doesnt the guy drag the thing into the driceway and give it a bath before taking pictures of it? Maybe the guy should look up the work "presentation"
Somebody needs to tell this guy what punctuation is. The whole ad was one sentence! Didn't know about an AMC 327, learn something new every day. But 600 lb/ft out of that little motor? My 611 hp 471 BBB doesn't make that.
GrandsportSedan is correct. The Jeep pickup was available with the AMC 327 from 1965-68 (perhaps later, my book is a 1968 manual). It was a 2bbl; 8.7:1 compression, 250 hp @4700 RPM, 340 ft/lbs of "tork" @ 2600 RPM. That engine has about as much chance of putting out 500 hp unblown as I have of getting a date with Sandra Bullock.
Not that much power but my father had a Rambler wagon with one of those engines in it and it was strong back in the day.
They were a cool truck my buddy had a 1970 that had a 318 swapped in to it . It had a lift with 44s and you could not stop it! If it was closer I would have a look at it. Bet you could get 500hp if you put a 455 in it. Now that would be cool.:3gears: :3gears:
I owned a few of those trucks with the Rambler 327 Vigilante engines. I Put a bunch of work into one (custom pistons, ported heads, 4bbl intake that I had to have machined to fit a 600cfm carb on it, custom ground cam, etc...), frankly far more work and money than it was worth and at best it might have been "almost" 400 hp if I was lucky. I eventually pulled it and swapped to a 455 Buick with a mild build and had a noticeable rise in power.
:spank: I know it's not an AMC, but a buddy of mine has a '66 Nova with a 327 Hi-Po motor in it. He's done a TON of work to the motor, and at 11.5:1 CR, and running partial race gas, he's making around 485bhp, and obviously nowhere near 600 ft lbs from such a small motor. I can't stand people like this, and sometimes wonder if people actually buy into it..........?????
...unblown as I have of getting a date with Sandra Bullock. 'unblown' and 'Sandra Bullock' in the same sentence make bob a sad panda. :eek2:
