    the amc 327 was best suited as a boat anchor. the only way that thing would have 500 hp is if there were 300 horses pulling it also.

    I have one of the old style J-10 trucks. I had considered putting the 430 in it after my new build was done and running in the Riv.

    It was a Kaiser-designed 327, completely unrelated to any other 327 or to the later AMC V8 family you mentioned. A good, robust motor.
