Looking closely at your avatar I realize where I've seen your car, either on Guess or Rose of Sharon Roads. (picture doesn't do it justice!)

Mayberry was based loosely on Mount Airy, the "big city" of Mount Pilot was derived from "Pilot Mountain" Kinda sorta passed through the outskirts on my way to Indy, Columbus and Michigan.

Speaking of which: who played the Mayberryian who went on to find fame and fortune as a rock and roll star? (Hint: his greatest claim to fame was in another show set in a podunk southern town)

Ed Burns. Don't know that from personal experience watching the show since it was before my time. I just know it because I've heard it over the years. Guest appearance on Married with Children and he was Vince Fontaine from National Bandstand in Grease.
