So I've ordered a pretty good amount of items from Rock Auto, never had an issue until now. So I ordered a turn signal switch for my dune buggy (i.e. 1970 beetle). I got the confirmation it was delivered at 6:12 and left with someone at the front door. Only problem was myself and my very vigilant doberman were in direct view of my front door from about 5:00 to 7:00 and no one ever showed up. So evidentally it went to the wrong house (thanks dhl...). So I went to Rock Auto and they have an automated series of "buttons" to click if your orders messed up. I did that (took about 1 minute to navigate, easy peasy) and the next day I get a shipping confirmation. 24 hours later the part was here. Long story short, my part never arrived, and without jumping through hoops they quickly shipped another that I then received within 48 hours of notifiying them of the issue. Well done Rock Auto!!
Their customer service is second to none. And since they don't stock / ship any parts themselves, it's really someone else's screw up.
I find after shipping their prices aren't much better than the local guys. Great site to poke around and find part numbers though. I use it for that all the time.
I like not having to deal with a brain dead counter man. Have had nothing but good luck with Rock Auto! Bob H.
^^^Truth!!^^^ Walking into any of the chain Auto parts stores in my area is akin to some sort of torture to me.
No clue. DHL says it was handed to me, only it most certainly was not me. Another me maybe?? My address but in the twilight zone or the upside down perhaps? Much like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know! I'd venture to guess that someone has a turn signal switch for a VW beetle they very likely don't need. Rock Auto never contacted me about it.
For stuff in not in a hurry for and the fact it comes right to my door , I couldn't be happier. I get all kinds of stuff from ra and eBay. It is the amazon stuff that I find isn't any cheaper especially once you figure in shipping.
I have ordered a bunch myself, I have more of those magnets than I know what to do with.... I did have one issue that actually made me appreciate the parts store. I ordered Powerstop Brake and rotor kit for my daughters Explorer, front and rear, also a fuel sending unit/fuel pump assy. have the car torn apart on a Sunday and find that the brake pads don't fit, also the seal for the fuel sender is incorrect. So now I have to run to the auto parts store and re-purchace the correct parts, which were not the Powerstop pads, try to call Roc Auto but of course there is no phone number because there are no human beings that work there. So now I go on the website and complete the form for incorrect parts which is easy, they send a prepaid return slip, but as I answerer the questions for the return it is asking me if the part number is correct, which on the pads it was not, they picked the wrong part, but on the gasket it was. Then it asks if the part looks like the picture, yes it does. so it says that is the only part listed so nothing they can do. Had I been speaking to a human being I would have explained that the picture was wrong, my vehicle does not have that style gasket, so I had to return on my dime. Plus I wanted the correct brake pads but I also wanted my money back because I had to purchase inferior parts due to their screw up. No can do, either you get your money back, or reship the correct parts. So I have purchased from them since this incident, but it does make me appreciate the dim whited counter guy at the local Napa.
Never had a problem on the purchase side of things but the return system is flawed. If you have multiple items to go back they have to go into boxes with correct labels to send to different warehouses. If someone screws up and the parts dont end up where they are supposed to go you get no refund but they keep your parts. I know I packed 3 boxes correctly, I KNOW it for a fact. But RA says they got the parts but not at the right location so they keep my parts and my money. If I want the parts back (i dont) I'd have to pay return shipping to my house. After weeks of going back an forth I gave up. They can keep the 86 chevy motor mounts and my 25.00$
I've also used them alot.. All other parts stores charge xtra shipping after payment, even though they calculated shipping, when they find out how expensive shipping is to Denmark.. I did buy some Monroe High Jackers of Rock Auto, and one of them is leaking, but apperently there's not waranty on all parts?
I ordered some parts to be here (New Zealand) before Christmas 2017. Ended up having to get them resent by Rocauto when they never showed. The original order showed up here FOUR month later but DHL Global tracing shows them STILL in CA, USA. Rockauto said - keep em for spares. DHL are hopeless beyond belief.
It was DHL that was responsible for making the final delivery (that never happened) on my missing part. Yes, they suck...
