    436'd Skylark Sweet Fancy Moses!!!!!

I do get parts there once in a while. Their original ad is so ironic though. The two cartoon guys trying to find struts. The announcer comes on and says "tired of wasting the day trying to find parts? Order them from rock auto!" Yeah and wait 3-4 days to get them!!! Meanwhile almost any part is only a day away from the chain stores..

I've gotten many parts from them much cheaper than locally and shipping is usually quick.
I did have a problem with a return once but it was resolved. I shop with them, look the part # on eBay and compare prices. I get stuff from Napa or carquest if I need faster.

I've been burned twice on shocks and struts leaking. A lot of the stuff has been on the shelf awhile and it shows

Use Rock Auto for parts I can wait on. Still go to the local parts store for many things and pay a little more for (even if you factor in shipping) to keep them in business and the 1 counter guy has been a huge asset in answering questions.

Just had to do a return on a Rock Auto part last week. It was a lift support for the trunk on my Lebaron convertible. Ordered 2 and the ones they sent 1 had a chrome "piston" the other had a black "piston". Looked a little strange so I asked for a return/replacement on one to get another that matches. They sent another one and didn't even ask to return the one that didn't match.

Also use their "love a bargain?" section to stock up on spare parts to throw in the trunk.

Now, the DHL/USPS shipping partnership. Seems 90% of my orders come from Sugarland TX. Makes it to Melrose Park IL a day or so later and has been "tendered to delivery service provider". USPS tracking says "on its way to USPS" . Status will stay this way for several days before any movement in tracking. Usually more than a week for parts to show up. The extra lift support they sent took 3 days from replacement approval to show up..... not through DHL!

Shawn, I gotta tell you, when I first saw the name of this thread I thought it had something to do with Arkansas! LOL

Something like: "I was driving through Little Rock when I saw what looked like the tail lights to a 70 Skylark but it turned out to be a GSX that this guy was scrapping so he gave it to me!"

My mind works in weird ways sometimes...LOL

This may be different now. One time I ordered 3 parts, and did not find out until checkout that they would ship from three different places. No problem, but I had to pay shipping from three separate places. Not a good deal at that point.

So a quick update, GUESS WHAT SHOWED UP FROM DHL LOOKING VERY "WELL TRAVELLED"???? Yep, the first part that decided to go walk about..... Now I gotta try to return it. Ugh...

    I wish you were right!!!

It's still that way Jay, but they note next to the parts that it'll be shipping from warehouse A, B, C, etc. So you can try to match up the warehouse to save shipping. Sometimes spending $3 more on a next step up part will save you $5 on shipping. It's a bit of a balancing act sometimes.

TexasT Texas, where are you from

No doubt on the shipping. Some times that breaks the deal and I pick it up local.

I wish they had a deal like eBay where I can save stuff and add it in latter. Having to look up stuff again isn't real good with my memory. I end up buying a lot off eBay as the shipping is often free and it is the same stuff.

I usually leave stuff "in the cart" for several days until I decide to purchase it or not after comparing prices. If I don't need it I just remove it from the cart.

I've found that some items with Advanced Auto if I put it in the cart but not order it they will sometimes have a 25% discount after a few days.

Yesterday I discovered that the fuel sending unit on my 01 F250 had fallen apart in the tank and that was why it was running like s--t. Last week spent over 600$ at a shop to fix the issues that was likely caused by the sending unit but they didnt diagnose the underlying problem. Anyway last night I found and bought a sending unit on Ebay for 325.00 receive it by the 19th. Read this thread again this morning and thought Hmmmmmm maybe they have the sender.. Yup! few$ less and I get it by friday. 300.00 ,buy it. So I put the truck up on the lift and drop the tank this morning and think I dont want to have my truck hanging up there all week. Called ORiley auto. They have a listing and its over 600.00 but the manager says he'll price match Rock Auto and I get it in the morning Sweet! I messaged the ebay seller asking to cancel the order. have not had a response yet. signed onto RA and canceled that order. processed ASAP. Now I'm sure if the order had processed and shipped it would be a bit more involved.
