    Glad to help.

I enjoyed driving mine and it was only a small block, but with a stick.

He is! And the funny thing is I had to really keep the reins on him. He wanted to prime the whole car and block it down for me.

Hes looking for more work too!

I could agree 14.8 ish with good traction. With street radials I'd venture low 15s.

I forsee a broken half shaft with traction! Lol

One design defect with the side exhaust is its right under the door. I get alot of exhaust fumes in the car.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

Side exhaust lets noise, heat, and fumes into a car and sound terrible because you only hear 4 of 8 cylinders at a time. Yet people seem to love them anyway. o_O

Put 200lbs of dunnage in the Corvette and I’ll race you in the Beater with the AC on.

Hard to believe that GM did them as factory on I think the '69s. Couple the leg burning threat, and its one of those times where you wonder if their lawyers were on vacation that week.

Those are actually covers with an insulator and the pipe (muffler) have a separator. Now the hookers would burn you up...

Despite feeling like crap this weekend, I managed to address the crappy side exhaust covers.

I found a guy on Ebay selling a used side exhaust cover set for $275. Way more palatable than $3400. Naturally it wasnt in the greatest condition but clearly better than whats on the car. The plan was to mix and match the two sets and assemble one good used set.

Actually worked out fantastic. The parts on that set up that were broken were good on mine. Went to Ace for new hardware and put it back together.

It's not pretty but it's not broken and it better than what I had

The plan was to assemble what was left and recoup some money but whats left is just absolute junk. At best, one could be used for a wall hanger or for some garage ambiance lol. As much as I hate to throw stuff away, it's junk

Put a pair of new BFGs on the front, now its smooth as silk. The old tires felt like they were octagon shaped!

I put the final tune on it yesterday and zeroed in the timing. Waaay better! Noticeably smoother.

Car runs cool and plenty of oil pressure. And incredibly, it dry as a bone underneath.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

Jason the Vette is looking really good. Nice job on it and I am sure you will enjoy it a bit before it finds a new home. Very cool.

The Corvette has become a reliable car. I have well over 100 miles on it now. I've dialing it the tune and working out any little bugs.

It's remarkable. Everything works down to the cigarette lighter. Car starts on a half a crank, gas gauge, oil pressure, temp all work. Well, almost everything wotks. The dash speakers are shot. You can barely hear the radio, but with the sidepipes, who needs it? I've been using it as much as possible. It's a fun car to drive.

Even in its primered state, it's such an iconic car, everyone notices it. From old ladies to little kids. "Nice Corvette!!" Everywher I go. The only downside is I feel like "one of those guys" now. You know...older mid 50s white guy in a vette with his ray bans on. I'm perpetuating the stereotype. In my defense, I donr wear jorks, new balance sneakers or a fanny pack so...

Speaking of sidepipes, the pipes ready need to ne replaced. I found a place called Highflow Performance that makes a system. Its a C3 setup but with C2 chambered mufflers. Its shipping next week. Once I get the exhaust on, I can get an accurate AFR reading and really see what this car is running like.

    Jason,
It’s a lot of fun driving around an older Vette. When you see another one on the road we used to wave at each other. You could always tell if a “new” Corvette owner had just got his/her car as they didn’t know about that yet.

The year/model didn’t matter, we were all brothers.

Kind of like we are in the Buick world.
