our old New Holland was built like a tank 12 hp and 1000 lbs. 48" mower deck hydrostatic 4.75" rear wheel bolt pattern, pushed a 54" blade all shaft driven. the manual for it was dated 1974. they sure don't make them like that too much anymore. Cub Cadets have the closest drive tray setup. (I'm not to familar deers though).

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

My Deere L130 was shipping damaged (ripped seat and a scratch) and I got it for $1800 @ the Depoo. That was basically the same as others with a 48" deck... :Do No:
The Kohler sure beats a briggs though....

    These are REAL mowers....

OK, first up is my JD 4200 compact utility...3 cyl diesel with 60" belly mower and FEL (Front End Loader), which is not mounted at this time. 4 wheel drive, too!

Actually, this Craftsman model DOES have a solid one piece cast iron front axle!! It is clearly a notch above the crappy Murray riding mowers I checked out at Mills Fleet Farm. And priced accordingly too. Murray must be the Mopar of riding mowers... although my Murray push mower is on it's 11th year, with nothing done in all that time except a new plug once. Never pulled the rope more than twice, usually once.

I'm saving my "Buick" money for the REAL Buick. Sometimes you have to settle for Chevy quality in other things you buy. :Do No: Hey, I haven't checked my Powerball tickets yet... :Dou:

Next is the newest and most specific... SCAG 72" (yes kids, that's 6 FEET of grass mowed at a time!!) 31 hp 3 cyl gas. These ZTR's (zero turn radius) mowers are FAST. I can mow about 3 1/2 acres per hour with it. The secret to them is the blade tip speed...over 18500 feet per second! Top speed mowing is 10.5 MPH! And the cut is beautiful...

have you tried a newer and or a higher-end briggs??? sorry I just work there and I'm tired of hearing people compare the $99 mowers to the $175+ mowers. and dont know that they the consumer comparing kohler to honda to briggs to kawi, mostly only see the low end engines. stupid image.....

the briggs will stay with or out perform on tests vs most other manufactures.

That's what the guys here in Omaha use that mow lawns for a living. I watched one once and wished I had one. Could be done with my yard in 15 minutes or less!! :TU:

Dad bought a Int. Cub Cadet in '81 or '82 and still has it today. It has the Kohler engine in it. He decided it was getting tired so bought a Crapsman a couple years ago and hasn't stopped cussing it since. I used it and didn't think it did too bad other than it kept throwing the belt on the mower unit. I think it was the belt itself that was the problem. I'd still take the Cub over the Crapsman though.
My Pa-In-Law has his father-in-laws JD and swears by it. Not sure how old it is but betting it to be at least 30+ years old.
