Bob and I have been asked by the drag racing organizers of this year's Pontiac/Oakland/GMC national convention if we'd be interested in having a class for Pontiac Pure Stockers. We did this two years ago at the 2009 convention in Dayton, OH as a one day event, the races held at Kilkare. This year the convention is in Bowling Green, KY, with the races held at Beech Bend Park on July 8th and 9th. Are any of the Pontiac Pure Stockers out there interested, and if so, Friday, Saturday, or both days?

If we do this, the entry will be FREE for the car, driver, and one crew member! I guess the organizers really liked our group two years ago!

Either reply here or contact me or Bob if you are interested. We have to let the POCI people know our decision sometime in February.

    Thanks guys!

I planned on going with my car but wasn't sure if I was going to race it or not. Count me in. 1 or 2 days doesn't matter. What ever you guys come up with.

Ken.... your car is NOT to slow to race at a SCR event. It will just give people more time to drool over it. :kodak:

I have made plans to go..Dayton was fun. If I can run with you guys it would be even better. Maybe Bruno and Adrian can bring the '69 firebird again. Rematch? I promise to bring an unclogged fuel filter this time.

This is still tough to watch

Count me in for the POCI Pure Stock race at Bowling Green. My RAII Firebird will be ready. Fri or Sat or both days is O.K. with me.

Yes - I had better have the clutch issues sorted out by then. I'll clean up the GP as much as possible but the funding just isn't there for having it "show appearing". It reminds me - I have to register for the convention!

anyone know if we would need to register for the convention? let's say I'm only interested in particpating in the racing at Beech Bend.

oh, any specific hotel everyone is staying at? or just find one of the listed hotels that has rooms? I'm thinking the latter

    Chris,

I don't think you have to register or be a member of POCI to race. Do do anything else, you do. I'm trying to find out from the organizers if we will have a specific hotel for us. I'll let you know here as soon as I find out anything.

Also my friend Ed, who some of you met at Martin in Oct, is planning on attending POCI. He plans to have his 68 GTO there (after installing new valve springs). 38K mile car. alpine blue, black vinyl top. std 4bbl motor, 3.90 saf-t-trac, m-21, manual steering and brakes, am push button. but mark down another with tenative interest.

I'd love to, but I'm not sure how quickly I can push a rotisserie 1320'.

How does this event compare to the August event at Norwalk?
